The sun ray filled my plain creme room blinding my vision. I pulled my covers up in hope of blocking out the sun from my face. Not long after, my alarm rang. Ugh. I tried to fake a headache to my mom because who the hell wants to go to school? Not me for sure.

"Honey, you gotta do a little more better than that. Now get your sorry ass up before you're late. By the way, you're taking the bus today because my car is out of bounds sweetie." Mom nagged like she usually do.

Great. The school bus.

With great annoyance, I slid my way across the room to the bathroom and did bathroom stuff. Like brushing my teeth for instance. I then made my way back to my room that looked like as if a tornado and hit and mount my way through to the cupboard. As usual, I searched deeply in the piles of clothes that was stacked in the cupboard for something to wear while throwing what I didn't wanna wear out. I have been told probably a million times by mom to fold my laundry but nah who cares, I am gonna wear them anyways.
Finally, after so long, I decided to use my striped T-Shirt, topping it off with a wool knit cardigan and blue jeans. It's pretty cold out here where I live so we gotta stay warm. Just as I was about to leave, my sister called upon me.

"Hey bitch! Remember, don't talk to the Juniors or Seniors. You're just a freshman so stay in your lane or you'll get beat to the meat i'm telling you! And STAY OUT OF MY WAY!" she yelled.

Right. I forgot. It's my first day of high school here. I wouldn't say i'm nervous but I wouldn't say i'm not. Whatever I better get to the bus before it leaves me. Once I reached the stop, I saw Weirdo Wendy sitting ok the bench. I would approach her and talk but she looks like she bites. Beep!

I hopped on the stinky yellow bus and tried to find a seat. This is why I HATE school buses. People just don't want you to sit beside them and there's literally gum everywhere. My eyes went all over the place looking for a seat but everyone just looks so fucking mean.

"You can sit here if you want"

I turned my head right the second the bus went over a bump and fell. No one surprisingly cared. Gotta get used to that. I got up and looked. Woah okay. Does she really want me to sit with her? I mean, when I first got on she was practically in her own zone with her big ass headphones and looked zombie as hell with her straight face  but sure I'll sit with her. Better than nothing. I placed my bag down and sat. Well, this is awkward. Really awkward. We both sat there the whole time quiet until we reached the school and everyone got off. I should probably ask her name before we part ways.

"Hi. I am Alana. Alana Darwin. Freshmen."
"Imari. Imari Stewart. Nice to meet you." she responded.

I smiled. She smiled. We smiled.

"What's your next class?" we both asked at the SAME exact time.
"Math!" we synced.

She pulled out her hand and we shook hands.

"Let's go together. I don't wanna get lost alone you know." I suggested.

She nodded and we both headed in Greendale High. Beyond those huge metal doors were the beginning of a new friendship and school year. One thing though, I made a friend?! Unbelievable and a new record for Alana because boy am I the hardest person to talk to. But kudos to Imari for breaking the ice first. She seems really sweet. Who knows. But whatever it is, I gotta get through this day first.

We walked into the designated classroom and found a seat next to each other. I set my books down and right that minute, the class started.

"Hello everyone. My name is Mr. Hugh and i'll be your Math teacher for the rest of the school semester. Now, let's start with an icebreaker shall we? Name and an interesting fact about you."

Oh. My. God. Can I just remind myself how much I hate icebreakers?

"You. First. Them followed by the person next to you and so on."

He pointed his sharp fingers to the boy next to me. Perfect. I'm next.

"I am G..g..georgie. I love to do experiments especially science experiments. They're great you know being able to cre-."

"OK we're ice breaking mot story telling. Next."

"Hi. My name's Alana and I love to read books because I feel so free doing them and being able to imagine the storyline."

Did I really just spurt that out? This isn't Alana AT ALL.

"Imari. I basically live in a world of shows and music. And I quite love reading too. Fanfics."

Great. She's just like me. We are so totally going to be best friends. Just gotta play it cool first. Cool.
