Lucas's POV

For one day, why can't I just be like everyone else. Yes, living my life isn't exasperating like many others, yet, I want more. No, I need more! I crave for that excitement, that anticipation of not knowing what the day will bring.

"Lucas, my son," my father calls out for me.

"I'm in the study father!" I shout out to him.

"Ah, here you are," he announces, "Today the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are coming, you must be here for they are bringing a daughter they would like you too meet."

I'm almost 19, which means it's prime time for me to get a wife and rule over my country.

"Father, why must you do this! For I don't even know this woman, and you insist I marry her?" I question.

"Son, I'm not insisting, the choice is yours, but you must remember, it is what's best for your country, not you. If I could have it another way, I would! Yet look at how your mother and I turned out! I met her just three weeks before our wedding and we were married for years before she passed." he finishes.

"Yes, but I long for true love father! You and mother we're meant to be, I want the same. Just with someone of my own choosing. Please, can I at least go seek someone in the village? Today perhaps?"

"Lucas, I've already told you, to have a successful and thriving country, you must make connections. One way to do so is to become family with other powerful unities, such as the Duke's daughter." my father shouted, "So that means no village, not today, not ever my son!"

With that I stormed off. Why must my father disrespect my wishes? I simply want to go to the village to seek someone to at least talk to.

Thinking everything through, I decide that to fulfill my goal, I musn't listen to my father, so I decide to sneak out.

Maya's POV

Goodness, I'm late again! Maddum Camìlè is going to kill me! I rush to grab all my things that I need for work from my bedroom, and scurry off.

As I'm running to work, someone bumps into me, making me trip and drop all my items.

"I am truly sorry ma'am. This was all my doing, here, let me assist you." the stranger says as he bends down to help. And might I say, he's not sore on the eyes from what I can see...

Finally, we collect everything and he hands me all my things. I see his face at last. His emerald green eyes are shinning bright against his deep tanned skin tone. Plus his muscular body matched with his perfect height.

"I apologise, but, where have you come from sir? I don't think I've seen you before." I ask.

"Ah, my name is Lucas Fr... Just Lucas ma'am. And you are..."

"Maya Ha... Just Maya for now. But you still have yet to tell where you come from, I apologise if I sound rude."

"Let's just say, I'm not from this area." Lucas informs me.

"I see, mysterious man. Will you at least tell me why you're here, in such a dreary and tired village?" I wonder.

"My father and I got into a huge argument. I needed somewhere to escape, this is the closest thing I've got." Lucas says.

"Well, this isn't much of an escape, since that's what you're looking for, you must go to the Grand castle! There you can live a high life, unlike here where you need to work all the time in order to eat anything. Speaking of working, I must go, Maddun Camìlè is probably waiting to yell at me." I inform Lucas as I start to rush off.

He runs up to me and stops me, "Hold on, when can we see each other again? I did have quite a good time with you." he let's out a sigh, "You really helped me escape..."

"I wish I could tell you. Probably around eleven or midnight, I am very sorry sir, but I truly need to leave." I finish. As I say this I finally run off to work. I hope I meet Lucas again, not only did I help him escape, but he helped me escape...

Lucas's POV

I watch her hurry off into the distance. Why must the most interesting ones always be so hard to grasp on to?

Maya, what a beautiful name for a beautiful woman. With her ocean blue eyes that are quite easy to get lost into. Then her long flowing golden locks, which perfectly frame her face. See, why can't I marry someone like her.
