     If there's a word that the people of the small town known as Villeneuve would use to describe Colette, that word would be 'kind.' You could ask anyone who knew Colette —or knew of her— and they would say there's no other girl in the world who was as much as polite and kind as her —though they would add, sometimes, how odd the girl was (though not as much as her friend Belle, or so they say).

     'To be kind and to be brave is a gift in a world like ours' was something that her mother, who met her fate when Colette was only a kid, used to say to her; and it is something that Colette believe with all her heart. She must be brave and kind even though people might be cruel to her. That's how Colette would honor her beloved dead mother: by not having a single drop of cruelty and haughtiness in her body.

     And that's one of the reasons why prince Adam was infatuated with her. Her kindness was one of the main reasons why the prince started to fancy Colette —though he had only exchanged a few words with the girl. To be quite honest, Adam didn't understand the reason why she was so friendly with the servants of the castle (maybe because she was one as well?), but, somehow, it made her more appealing to him. If only his arrogant heart would let go of the fact that she was one of his maids and just let himself love her for who she truly was then maybe he and his servants wouldn't be cursed as they were right now.

     Five years after the night that sealed the fate of them all, Colette lived her life as if nothing had ever happened, having forgotten the castle, its servants, and the prince, thanks the Enchantress. However, after Belle's father doesn't come back from the annual out of town market, the two of them depart from their quiet small town to search for him. After founding him being kept as a prisoner in a castle dungeon by a horrifying beast, and noticing the poor man's state, Colette made a decision not knowing that it would turn her whole world upside down: she would take Maurice's place so he and Belle could go home together.

     Colette didn't know that her decision would turn her whole world upside down, nor she didn't know that she had already been in the castle. She just didn't remember.
