I sigh and I make my way over to my last table to bus. Quickly clearing the table of left over tamales and napkins I notice $3. That was the biggest tip of the night bringing my total in of $9.29, a slow Thursday night for the small diner of Fidelina's Taqueria. I picked up the bills, wipe off the table, and put the chairs up so Becky can finish sweeping for the night.

As I head to the back to put the dishes away my gaze passes the mirror and I see a spot of salsa on my name tag. Surprise, surprise I think to myself as I quickly wipe it clean so I don't have to buy yet another one. I look back up to see it read Brooklyn in my flowery handwriting. Good.

I drop my dishes off and go to clock out as the last costumers are leaving. Catching a whiff as they walk by, I notice that they are also werewolves. A young couple that I don't recognize leaving me to guess that they are from our neighboring pack, the Bonded Path pack. I'm not surprised they are here considering this is the only town for miles and a weres gotta eat.
I lock eyes with them as they too realize what I am and bow my head and drop my eyes to show no harm.

Being an omega in the pack means I am always the one to submit first. Even from another pack. I grew up this way with my family knowing my place in the pack, lowest. Once I was 16 it was my job to help around the pack house, earn a wage to contribute to the pack funds, and be responsible for dinner at the pack house every Tuesday. It made my boss mad that I missed the taco Tuesday special but we made it work over the years.

I make my way across the small parking lot to my old beat up Ford car. It isn't much with it's loud engine and rusted red exterior, but it was bought and paid for by me. Being so low in the pack means the accumulative funds don't tinkle down to you. You end up paying your way for everything or expect hand-me-downs. That being said I was quite proud that my boyfriend, Xavior, and I were able to save the funds for it.

I turn the engine over and crank the heat. Weres run hot but even I can't beat this winter. Being right off the ocean doesn't help but there are lots of evergreens in this area that help to keep our wolf forms from prying eyes.
Once my dinosaur phone boots up I check for messages. Hm, none... Xavior must still be at the factory working I think to myself. Oh well, and I make my way home.

Home is nothing fancy, a small two bedroom home just inside the edge of the tree line. I just moved in with Xavior two months ago to test our compatibility, which was perfect even though I apparently snore. Weres usually wait for our mates before we move in together but Xavior' s mate rejected him for being an omega.  It caused her to go crazy and turn rogue but that's her loss. That was over two years ago though. As for me? Well, we are suppose to find our mates when we turn 18 but after a few months of nothing I figured the moon goddess blesses me with a choice. After growing up with Xavior and helping him hold onto his sanity after his mate rejected him, the choice was clear to me.

We have been dating for a year and a half now and my dad finally lost hope of my 'real' mate coming along and marking me. He finally gave Xavior his blessing to mate me and we have our bonding ceremony next month. We have been holding out for a long time but it'll be worth it to have our first time together after we are bonded and marked. Besides, it's not like we don't have fun... we just don't go too far. It'll be nice to have the bonding ceremony over with next month though so we can move forward with our furture.

That's why we just got the house, two bedrooms so Dad can think that I sleep separately from my soon to be mate until we are bonded. Jokes on you Dad I chuckle to myself. Saddly that is the only reason we have a two bedroom though. Not being goddess chosen mates means the odds of us conceiving a child are slim to none. This is something we both had to come to terms with a while back. But we are open to adoption, nothing sadder than an orphaned pup.

Our small house is charming with a small front porch and bench swing complete with a fenced in back yard to keep our wolf neighbors at bay. The classic white wood siding and red shutters are warm and inviting. Perfect for Xavior and myself, and my art supplies have their very own room to occupy.

This is what I'll be coming home to every day I muse as I pull in the single wide driveway. After I put the car in park and kill the engine I move to get out of the car,  eager to climb into something spicy to surprise my soon to be mate with.

That's when I heard it, a single mournful howl of my Luna but quickly followed by many battle howls.

I don't even stop to change out of my uniform before I'm on all fours making my way to my packs aid.

Well! That's my very first chapter to my very first book. I can not tell you how excited I am to be writing this.
I will be posting once or twice a week, I don't gonna get over ambitious and say I'll post every night and fail but k don't want to be that person that only posts like every  other month. That kills me as a bookaholic.  And no worries guys, I have the whole book planned out minus a few details so I shouldn't, key word shouldn't, get writers block. Positive critique allowed but if you're just going to be a butt,  take your negativity elsewhere please.
Hope you liked this first chapter and are as excited to see what's happening next chapter as I am to write it!
Till then, have a good one and happy Halloween!
Btw: it takes a lot more to fill these pages that one would think so sorry if you found my chapter too short! I'll work on that for sure next chapter...
