WARNING: moderate(?) gore, zombies, suicide (at the end)
Twelve years earlier....
It was a desolate kind of beach. The sort small children wander into in their nightmares. A young girl- no older than seventeen was marvelling the sight of a small cottage precariously balanced on a cliff. She had long platinum blonde hair and soft brown eyes. Why was she there? Nobody knew.
Her name was Nalya. Frozen tears were stuck to her cheeks and her absent-minded expression gave passers-by the impression she was a statue. Not that there were any passers-by, the only spectators were the gulls who gave mournful cries of solitude.
"Where is he?" Nalya muttered. She looked across the road as though expecting him to appear.
Instead she saw a mother and daughter hand in hand happily chattering in the lone chip shop. Nalya pressed a hand onto her bulging tummy. She wondered- 'will my child be happy like that? Will they live in fear like I do?'
The growing baby gave a firm kick and Nalya removed her hand from her stomach. She seemed all forlorn until-
"Where is he!" Her voice suddenly turned icy and cold, "Where are you?" The wind picked up and the sand began swirling around Nalya, "Where!"
"Here." A tall, skinny man appeared from the shadows.
Nalya pointed her hand at the man and without even touching him, he fell over screaming in apparent pain. When he finally stood up, he was very pale and looked as though he was going to vomit.
"We have business, where have you been?" Nalya's voice seemed slightly calmer but could still cut lemons.
"Well... I..."
"Save your petty excuses for later Mark." She snarled. "Follow me."
Chapter 1
The beginning
Once upon a time is how I ought to start, this is a gruesome fairy-tale after all, so. Once upon a time, not that long ago, there were three girls called Sophia, Lucy and Katie. Sophia was 14, Lucy, 12 and Katie 6. Lucy was a massive science nerd and when she grew up she wanted to be a scientist. Sophia thought science was okay but really, she wanted to be an author. Katie didn't know what she wanted to do, but she looked up dearly to her sisters and loved them lots.
Katie loved Sophia's frizzy hair- like her own but brown, she loved Sophia's crooked nose, she loved Sophia's dark green eyes like her Mum's. She loved Lucy's straight blonde hair, her random scars on her arms, her piercing blue eyes, Katie loved her sisters lots.
This one particular morning the girls' parents made an announcement. "In the summer holidays, at funside theme park, there will be a science fair, it's going to be a great opportunity for you all, especially Lucy-Loo"
"Don't call me that..."
But the girls' dad wasn't listening, "so I thought you girls could go, Sophia you can go too with Lucy and you can bring Katie, I'm sure she'd love to go on the rides!," their dad continued to speak over the shouting from Sophia and Lucy, " it starts at eleven o'clock in the morning and finishes at four, we will drop you off and pick you up. Now come along girlie's or you'll be late for your last week of school before summer."
The girls hastily ate the remainder of their breakfast and went to the school bus stop.
"I can't believe them!" Lucy raged suddenly, "what do they think bringing Katie, she'll get in the way! It's ridiculous bringing a six-year-old to a science fair, she'll get bored!"
