Reminder that this is a TRUE story, 100% things that happened to me.
I pulled out my one piece bathing suit. I packed it in my overflowing, enormous, heavy giraffe print suit case. I brushed my blue-faded-to-swampy-green short pixie cut that had grown unruly out of my eyes.
"Are you sure you can go for a about a week on your own? You've never gone before." My mom said, quite worried.
"Yes mom, I can make it. I have Sarah and Joseph there. Plus Will and Brooke are put sponsors. I will be just fine" I said. Sarah was my older cousin. She was 17, barely 5 years older than me. She was kind of a weeaboo, but we made great friends. Joseph was my buddy that I had met in youth a while back. Brooke and Will are the youth leaders that we had in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. They had known me since I was tiny and Brooke had graduated with my mom.
"Ok, go get some sleep. It's 11 already and I need to get you to the church tomorrow by noon. I love you" Mom said kissing the top of my head.
"Love you too, mom"
I had a very strong relationship with my mom. Ever since my parents divorced, Mom had been my favorite parent. Though she struggled with bipolar and depression, she was a good mom. I am the person that knows her the best. I know her better than she knows herself. When she is having a depressive episode, I am the one to drag her out of the house, make her take a shower, cook for her, or just keep her awake. She would sleep for days on end. My little brother wasn't much help. I had drifted away to sleep in my thoughts of what was to come the following week.
