In Time - Kakashi x Reader

Chapter 1: Distance

Foreword:
The story is a bit dark but I promise it'll get better... maybe.
(S/N) - surname.
(Y/N) - your name.
I made your father's name Ren but you can change it if you like.
You've also got 4 brothers... *insert sweat drop here*. Their names from eldest to youngest (which you can change): Kuma, Isei, Heisuke and Komorou.

Everything was horrible and you couldn't handle it. It took your father way too long to return and the both of you regretted it.

The bandits ran, knowing their doom would soon be met if they hadn't. The darkness of night served as a perfect cover to evade imminent death. You wished they had been foolish and stayed longer, beckoning their end. Instead, devastation only continued. When Ren  (S/N) entered the building he only found destruction and a weeping, traumatised daughter. Beside the fireplace lay the corpse of his wife and within what felt like an eternity, but which was really less than a second, his heart broke. Shock invaded him. His little girl had witnessed one of the most cruel experiences one could ever endure. Now a widow, Ren inherited all the duties of care for his children.

Ushering little (Y/N) from under the sofa, Ren made haste to deliver her to a location that wouldn't remind her of this  tragedy. Before any of her brothers could enter the room Ren locked the door and pushed them towards the entrance of the house, assuring them he'll "explain everything tomorrow. For now, we've got to find a temporary home."

Confusion littered Ren's mind as he tried to suppress his emotions in favour of protecting his children. How did the murderers enter the house? Where were the guards and the staff?

Arriving at an old manor, he pounded on the door and in moments was greeted by an old friend. Teal eyes met (colour) eyes, and a hand gestured to offer permission of entry.

Night passed as the two old friends designed a solution to the murder as well as its effects upon the children. Ren, the king of the village and an incredibly powerful S-rank ninja, colluded with his fellow ninja to investigate the death of his beloved wife and enact justice; but he also decided upon a plan to help his daughter who hadn't spoken since her reunion with her father and brothers. At that very moment her brothers were attempting to communicate with young (Y/N), inquiring about their father's strange behaviour but they received no response. Sitting in near-perpetual silence, all they could do was furrow their brows.

The next day, the family accompanied by some volunteers from the village's noble families headed towards the Village Hidden in the Leaf, an old ally. (Y/N) continued her silence along the way, barely even sparing a glance towards her siblings who tried constantly to engage her.  Behind the great (S/N) clan followed members of the Kotoke, Roichi and Miiu clans, some of which would remain the in the Leaf Village with (Y/N) and Isei.

After a rigorous process of certifying your living arrangements - which involved a long conversation between your father and the Third Hokage - an agreement was reached, allowing you and the other Meadow inhabitants to live in the Leaf as long as you all contributed to their ninja forces. In short, you would become ninja.

Your father was all too eager for the arrangement, having expected you all to become ninja regardless. Allowing himself to remain with you for four more days before he had to return due to his monarchical duties, he consulted you about the death of your mother.

"She was such a strong person and the love of my life. She loved you so, so much, (Y/N). I know it hurts but you'll overcome this. As will I. I want you to stay close to the Hokage, okay? He'll help you. He'll protect you. I love you."

You nodded, allowing his words to sink into your mind. The Hokage would help you. You liked the sound of it but you weren't exactly sure what help meant. Would he avenge your mother, or would he just offer a temporary solution?

At only the age of 4, you had lost your mother and were living alone with only one of your brothers to keep you company, who was also very young. The Hokage would sometimes check up on you however and provide both of you with food and tea, happy to see you beginning to talk at least a little bit. He introduced you to his son, Asuma, who would be your peer in the academy as well as your friend.

And so begins your story...

Okaaaaay, so that was kept quite minimalistic but I'm not a big fan of maximalism, so I hope that's understandable.
Let me know if you have any suggestions about the writing style - like if you want it to go a bit more in depth, etc.
This chapter was mainly focused on introducing the basis of the story.
Also, here are your brother's ages in relation to yours.
Kuma: 11
Isei: 7
You: 4
Heisuke and Komorou (twins): 3
