Simple. Quiet. Soft-hearted.
The kind of person who loved too much and expected too little in return.
He was everything she should have avoided.
Cold. Reckless. Impossible to hold onto.
The kind of guy who never stayed long enough for anyone to matter.
She wanted peace.
He wanted attention.
She gave love freely to everyone around her.
He barely knew how to give it back.
And somehow, despite all the ways he hurt her, she still loved him.
Maybe that was her biggest mistake.
Or maybe it was the only thing she ever truly meant.
"He doesn't even care about you."
"I know."
"You know, and you still keep running back to him?"
She looked away quietly.
"He's hurting you, Sophia."
"Maybe," she whispered. "But that's my choice."
Frustration flashed across his face.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?"
"Why do you care so much?"
Silence.
Heavy. Painful silence.
Then finally—
"Because I love you."
The words hung between them like something fragile waiting to break.
But Sophia only smiled sadly and lowered her eyes.
