We start our one and a half hour journey home. Finally we are almost back to my suburban home right outside of Houston. We are driving through, and I am devastated by what I am seeing. I see so many houses that are destroyed. Train tracks that weren't even there anymore. I am going through my Snapchat and Instagram, and the amount of devastation was insane. I have gotten a lot of DMs asking if I was ok because I am a pretty popular YouTuber. Then I saw one DM that caught my eye. It was from Jake Paul. I knew exactly who he was. I mean how could you know know who Jake Paul is. I always watch his vlogs. He's the reason I started vlogging instead of just posting covers. I opened the message and it read
"Hey Ariana, I'm not sure if you know who I am, but I know you're a YouTuber, and you live in the Houston area. Me and a few guys from Team 10 are coming down to help if you know anywhere that really needs help please DM me back. We also may need some places to stay. Thank you so much. I hope you and your family are safe. Love Jake."
I was in total shock! Not only did Jake Paul just say he is in Houston, he said he knew who I was! I DMed him back immediately.
"Hey Jake, I just saw your message. First off I wanna start by saying how thankful I am for what you and Team 10 are doing to help with the damage from Harvey. It is really hard driving through and seeing my city so devastated. I definitely know some areas that can really use your help. You also are totally welcome to stay at my house. Luckily it didn't flood so we are safe and dry. Let me know is you need anything else. You can just text me my number is XXX-XXX-XXXX."
All of a sudden I remembered about my parents. I looked at both of them.
"Hey mom" I said somewhat innocently. She knew something was up after that.
"What do you want Ari?"
"What makes you think I want something mommy" I asked all politely. Now she really knew something was up I just called her mommy.
"Well you're being nice, and you called me mommy" She said.
"Ok so you know how I am kinda YouTube famous, and whatever. Well Jake Paul you know 'It's Everyday Bro' guy? Well he's in Houston helping with Harvey relief, and I may or may not have just told him he could stay at our house if he needed" I said really fast hoping they would only catch little bits and pieces. I was not lucky enough for that. They heard every word loud and clear.
"Ariana are you serious? You have a little sister! She loves Team 10! How do you think she's going to react if all of a sudden Jake Paul and whoever else from Team 10 walks into our house? We would have to take her to the hospital, she could stop breathing!" My mom was somewhat scolding me, but what she was saying gave me an idea. I may or may not be an evil genius.
"Ok I get where you're coming from. I'll talk to Bella though. She'll be ok. They are all really cool and we have space. I mean we have the extra bedroom, the couch in the game room, and the couch downstairs. They really are good guys, and they need somewhere to sleep. Please!" I begged with the best puppy dog eyes I could make.
"How many people is it, and are they all boys" My dad finally decided to step into this conversation after he heard me say guys numerous times.
"It's four boys." I answered somewhat worried for their answer.
My dad spoke up again "If we say yes their will be rules. No boys in either of y'alls bedrooms."
"Ok dad I understand that. That's just weird to even think about. Plus I'm pretty sure all of them have girlfriends, and Bella is 14 they are all adults." I started to think about how cute Jake Paul is. Then I remembered how gorgeous Erika is. Yea I don't have a chance I thought to myself.
"That statement was more directed towards you Ariana. No boys in the your bedroom. Got it?" My dad said again making sure he was very clear.
"Yup crystal clear! Thank y'all so much!" I was really happy they said yes because as you know I already told Jake he could stay. We pulled up to my driveway in my little suburban neighborhood. I got out of the car, and picked up my bags. I was going to be staying back home until school started back for me after Labor Day. My little sister ended up not returning back to school until September 11th because of how bad all the flooding was. I looked down at my phone and saw I had a text from an unknown number. I opened the message.
"Hey Ariana! It's Jake thank you for giving me your number by the way. It makes it much easier I get a lot of DMs. Anyway the guys and I are so happy that you said we could stay with you! We are going to be out kinda late tonight though. We don't want to disturb your family at all, so if you don't want us to stay tonight that's fine. Just let us know what to do!"
I texted him back.
"Hey! You can definitely stay here tonight it's not a big deal. My parents can't really get to work, and my little sister doesn't have school saying her school is full of people who lost their houses right now. I'll give you my address and just let me know when you're like 5 minutes away from my house and I'll make sure I let you in!"
He answered almost immediately.
"Alright cool. Wait... you have a sister?"
I mentally laughed.
"Yea she's 14, and a huge fan so just be warned no promises she won't attack you. Shes tiny but mighty. She low key scares me. Anyway yea here's my address... (insert address here) just let me know about when you'll be here. Good luck today, and be safe! Again thank y'all so much for helping!"
I saw he said.
"Alright I'll let you know when we are close, and it's no problem. We will do whatever we can to help!"
I smiled knowing that not everything about how horrible he is that I read on social media is true. He's actually a genuinely good guy if you really talk to him. After I stood there for a minute I realized I haven't talk to Bella yet. This should be an interesting conversation.
