It's Ray here, this is my second book and I hope you enjoy it.  Don't forget to check out my first book (Gray Matter) and say hi to Cinnie for me :)

It's my first day at my new school, and I just survived all of my morning classes.  I'm sitting on an old steel bench outside the cafeteria, eating my lunch and watching them.  By them I mean the humans.  I envy them so much, running around without a worry in the world.  Life is just so bright for them, full of possibility.  I, on the other hand, have been born into darkness.

My name is Nelchael.  It's a stupid name so I go by Nekki.  I am a direct descendant from the fallen angel Nelchael, and as a dedication to our heritage my mother named me after her.  Not the best namesake if you ask me.

Back in the middle ages, after the fallen had mixed with mortals, the angels became bored with Earth.  They turned to demonic ways, torturing innocent lives for fun.  Their offspring were hunted down in an attempt to fight back.  Hundreds of the Cambion were killed, and their demon parents disappear, when they needed them most.

The world still remembers what happened, and a majority of the world believe that by eradicating all of the Cambion, the demons will stay away.  It is law that if any Cambion were discovered, they were to be eradicated immediately.

So here I am, pretending to be one of those lucky mortals, so I don't you know, get killed and stuff.

"Hey, is this seat taken?"

I look up to see and lanky guy with face piercings.  He had black hair and blue eyes.  He was wearing the summer uniform that the school has issued to all of the students.

" Don't worry, I'm not trying to hit on you.  Welston, and i'm gay."

He extended his hand to me.  I didn't want to shake it because I wasn't wearing gloves, but I wasn't one to turn down an opportunity for a new friend.

"I'm Nekki.  I'm new to the area, would you like to enlighten me on anything?"

Welston took a seat beside me, "I don't know where to start.  Ooh, how about this, ill tell you who the top bitches are around here."

"See that girl sitting over there, on that rock by the basket ball court?"  He said pointing.  "That's Ashley.  She's the daughter of the governor of this city.  Point is, don't get on her bad side, or she will play the dirtiest shit on you".

Great, well that's some one to avoid.  That girl could literally have me killed.  She was really pretty, her curvy body made her uniform look as if it belonged on the runway.  She was cheering on some of the boys on the basketball court.

"Who's the guy shooting that three pointer?" I asked.

Welston looked to see who I was talking about, by the time he looked the other guy already made the shot.  He was jogging down the court now with the rest of his friends, triumphant of his shot.

"I bet you're talking about Paysha, he moved he from Russia in like the eighth grade.  Your talking about the guy with the tall hair right? How the hell does he keep it styled like that, even after playing all that basketball. Damn.  Oh by the way, I think he's gay.  He never said it, but he rejects every girl that has tried."

Hm, interesting.  Sure he has highlights in his brown hair, which is actually super tall.  For some reason, my brain just decided he wasn't gay.  Of course I won't be able to find out why he hates women, because Ashley obviously had her eyes on him, they haven't left him the entire game.

" Do you like him?"  I asked

" Who wouldn't like Paysha Sorvinaf, he's so sexy that he gets offers from modeling agencies everyday.  I've even see him in some commercials.  Hey it's time to go back to class, need any help?"

I actually had my class with my second period teacher, so I already knew where it was.  I let Welston know that I didn't need any help, and I set on my way.  This class was AP calculus, it was in the second building.  As soon as I walked into the class, I heard the whispers that have been going on all day.

" They found a whole bunch of them living in the city, they looked just like us.  I think that it's super creepy that anyone in this room can be a Cambion".  One girl was saying.

"Wait, what if Mr. Gornado was one?" another one exclaimed

"What a sad world this would be."

One thing I have learned about the girls in St. Pableo high is that they have a sick attraction to the math teacher.  I mean sure, he has a baseball booty, and abs.  But that isn't worth getting the hots for an old dude.

" Well I know one thing for sure, Cambion can't be around crosses, they're too holy.  Mr. Gornado always wears one."  I look down at the cross hanging from my neck.  I don't know what those girls think is so powerful about a piece of metal, but I guess it will keep my pretense up

Ever since an attack on a governor or something, its become the norm for everyone to wear some sort of cross, even teachers.  It makes me sick that they fear us so much, the only reason that attack happened was because some Cambion thought it would prevent the Death Bill from being passed, from putting us all in danger.  Of course it didn't help, if anything it made us seem even more dangerous.

"Hey new girl,  do you want to partner up with us for this assignment?"  asked one of the girls from earlier.  Actually it was the bitch who called me gross.

"no thank you I like working by myself."

Later on I heard them whispering about me.

"I was trying to be nice to her, what an idiot am I right?"  actually hun, you're the ignorant one. I'm a demon.

"All the guys think she's super hot, good thing because everything else about her sucks".

"Hey idiot, I think she can hear us".

They turned around to meet my glare, one girl looked like she was about to puke.  I have that affect on people, I am a scary bitch, I will cut you- just kidding.

Walking home, I couldn't help but cry a little.  I don't like crying, but you try being an object everyone around you fears, and wants to kill.  I can't let what those kids say hold any effect over me.  I just have to try and get through senior year. Just 150 days left in this school year. I can do it.

I got to the subway station that was supposed to take me home.  The last place I lived in was a small town in Kansas.  New York city was big enough for us to blend into, not draw as much attention.  If my little sister was caught speaking in demon tongue, others would just take us as foreigners.

By the time the subway train got here, my legs were tired of standing.  I just wish I could use my more convenient method of traveling.  I can't here, way to many witnesses.    I'm so tired, that new day really took my energy from me, not to mention all of that human food I ate.  I have special food, it's called ambrosia.  One bite and all of my energy will replenish.  There are rumors that some Cambion can absorb the energy from certain humans. The train was stuffed with people, there was one seat open beside me on the bench, and a couple of those hand loop thing hanging off the ceiling. I end up dozing off as soon as the train stops to pick up the next round of passengers.

"mmmhmm, escuse me miss".  Some one cleared their throat.

I woke up, I was laying on somebody's chest. I was holding two wrists.  I look up to see the stunned brown eyes of Paysha Sorvinaf.

"Why ver you doing zat miss?"

What did I just do. I stood up, still looking at him. I was shocked, he was shocked.

The train stopped and I ran to the doors.
