His fur was so soft it was like cotton. His ears were big and one would always be bent while the other would always be pointing up. He was so cute, big eyes, one brown and the other blue. Blue was his name. He was a husky, a little tiny husky. My dad had given him to me on my tenth birthday. At that time, I did not like dogs. I liked cats and cats only. I did not want a dog and I had no idea why my dad had gotten me a dog. I just sat there and I did not say anything. I could only stare at the animal that I did not want. It was staring back at me with its tongue out as my dad was carrying it towards me.

"For me?" I say looking at the thing.

"Yes, Jasmine. His name is Blue" my father said smiling and petting my new dog.

I did not want to be rude so I took the furry thing and put it on my lap and I tried to act like I liked it and like I wanted him. It licked my face and just like that I stood up and the dog fell on the grass.

"Eww!" I yell out.

My dad quickly picks the dog up and tells me that I had to be careful. I look at the dog and reach out to pet him but before I could feel his soft fur, it bit me.

"Dad it doesn't like me!" I yell out almost throwing a tantrum. I wanted a cat not a dog!

"Yes it does, he's just very playful" he says. "But just be careful because he has sharp teeth" he warned me.

"Okay" I say and I go back to my party frowning. I had a good birthday but the only thing that made it bad was that dog that was now staring at me as I was swinging in my swing. I stared at it back like if it was a challenge. The dog finally put its head down on it paws. I get off my swing and run to the field and lay on the grass looking up at the stars. All of a sudden, I hear grass moving and before I could get up to look, he was sitting right next to me of course with its tongue out. I sit up and hug my legs. I look at it and say " Can you put that thing back in there?" It bothered me I don't know why. He looked at me and actually put it back in his mouth. He just kept staring at me and it tilted its little head to one side. "You're kinda cute or whatever" I say rolling my eyes. He walks up to me with his four little furry paws and I pet him.

The next day, I wake up to Blue jumping on my bed and scratching and licking my face. "What?" I say as I try to get him off my bed. He quickly runs out my room and downstairs, I follow after him. I finally catch up to him, he sits on the kitchen floor wagging his tail. "Are you hungry?" I ask. He barks as if he understood me. I grab his really big bag of dog food and I try to put some food in his bowl until he comes running towards me and pushes me onto the floor. All the little balls of food scatter around the tile floor. He runs around going crazy and slides and he hits the cabinet door. I get up and I try to pick up the food from the floor one by one, I was mad. I didn't like him, he was dirty, stinky, messy, and annoying. I roll my eyes and go upstairs to get ready for school. I wanted to wear my new dress, it was from my grandma. She had given it to me as a birthday gift, I loved it. It was white with little purple flowers. I came downstairs, I was ready.

"You ready?" asks my dad.

"Yes!" I reply.

"You like nice" he says as he grabs my backpack and hands it to me.

"Thank you" I say.

Out of nowhere, Blue jumps on me and I hear a sound. A sound that got me mad.

"You ripped my dress!" I yell in frustration. Blue sits down on the floor in front of me with a piece from my dress in his mouth then, he drops it. I go upstairs mad and I change. I walk downstairs and open the door and I start to walk to school. I pass by the brightly colored trees. It was fall but it wasn't cold. Suddenly, I don't feel alone anymore. I turn around and of course it was Blue. "Blue?" I say wondering what he was doing here and how he had gotten out. "Go back home" I say carrying him and turning him the other way. He turns around again to face me. I ignore him and continue walking but he follows me. I just kept walking until I got to school and realized I was late. Blue had made me late.

After many years of getting into problems because of Blue, I had actually began to like him and I loved him. He was so big now and one of his ears was still bent and the other one not. He still made me mad oftenly but he was like my best friend. " Hey Blue let's go to the park for a walk" I say. He didn't need a leash, he would always be next to me. He was so obedient.

We walked to the park together and once we got there, Blue ran to the grass and I threw his ball and he jumped in the air and caught it. He ran back to me and gave me the ball back. I threw it again but this time I accidentally threw it too far. It was a mistake, something I will always regret. It had gone to the street and Blue was chasing after it. I immediately call Blue's name and run after him but it was too late. I rushed Blue to the hospital but he had died once we had arrived.

Everything reminded me of Blue. The park, my house, my birthday, and just everything. I was depressed and I felt lonely. I sat on the grass and cried my eyes out, I could not believe he was gone and it was my fault.

"Hey I got something for you" my dad says.

"What is it?" I ask as I turned around.

"This is Lucy" he says carrying a golden retriever puppy. She had a little ponytail on the top of her little head with a little pink bow. I take her and begin to cry. My dad sits next to me and he hugs me.

"Thank you "I say smiling.
