Bio:
Scott was born in 1991, to Connie and Rick Hoying. His father, being Arlington's catholic priest, brought his children up Catholic. His religion is a huge part of Scott's life today.
In Sunday-school, he met his friend, Kirstin Maldonado who had just moved there from Mexico with her family. The two taught each other their languages, making them both bilingual in English and Spanish.
In high school, the duo became a trio, meeting Mitchell Grassi. The three became practically inhabitants of the vocal choir room. They came up with small medleys and covers of popular songs, using only their voices to create the beat and harmonies. Towards graduation, the three found a bass and a beatboxer to join their group so they could participate in the show "The Sing-Off", which they won. Speaking of high school, this is when his older sister Lindsay had gotten involved with a bad egg, Larry. The two had a son, Malcolm, and Larry left, leaving Lindsay to take care of the child which she didn't do well.
During college, the five took care of the infant when they could, but considering Scott himself was working towards a doctorate, they couldn't be there for the growing abuse from Lindsay.
Pentatonix decided to make music their priority, so they moved to New York. Only 3 years later, Scott met his future husband, Joe Hobbs, in a bar. The two hit it off instantly and, well, you know the rest from there.
