After his mother died without getting proper medical treatment, Stan's sports scholarship was what covered his tuition fees and the family's pending loan interests.
*************
As Stan walked with his buddies to the court in the campus, coach Robert approached them all, dribbling a basketball and wearing his champion jacket. "Good evening, guys, if you haven't heard, our Crescent school is hosting the annual basketball championship this summer. Just like last year, I need you all to fire up and lift the cup. I don't want anybody leaving this court with our trophy. So, who are the champions?" The team cheered with their hands in the air "We are the Champions, coach!". "Good, I have yet to decide who's the captain. Let's say we decide it after a month of practice" Coach passed the ball to Stan who smiled and started practicing with the rest of the team. He smiled acknowledging the fact that since the seniors left, his father had no choice but to choose the best among the pack, him.
"Look, it's the braced freak!" Gary pulled Stan's hands as he walked towards Naomi, who was on her bike. "Hey glassomi" Gary yelled from behind the bushes. Naomi only saw the taller Stan's face when she turned back. She recognized him, the son of the 'best' coach in town, that's what her dad said. While she fired her gaze on him, her bike slipped from the kerb, slamming Naomi face down on the ground. Her glasses were luckier than her lips. "You're going to regret this" Naomi stared back at the laughing Stan while wiping the blood from her lips with a handkerchief. She lifted her bike from the pavement and rode away from them. Naomi walked up to her room while her step-mom still argued with her dad about her. *Beep* "He and his stupid dad, I'll show him who he's messing with" she stared at the desktop of her Alienware biting her nails. 'Stan Robert' she whispered as she filled the search bar. She downloaded a bunch of Stan's photographs and opened her favorite editing application, with which she brewed poisons with colors to haunt the smiles of her preys. She opened three new files and dragged the pictures into each of them, adjusting her glasses as she leaned towards the screen.
*phew phew* Stan rubbed his eyes as he opened the notifications on his iPhone. Though the sender had a fake ID, they knew him well to CC a great list of students in his school, including teachers. An animation of him failing to score against a bunch of mannequins, a bunch of memes highlighting his mistakes and even a few cartoons on how his father would grant him the captaincy. Like a cherry on top of the cream, they had added pictures of him pissing in the court at night, the ones his friends had shared online without his knowledge. He fell back, covering his pale face with his shivering hands.
