"AnnaBelle! Hurry up you're going to be late for your first day of school!" my mother yelled up the stairs as I lay in bed trying to push the terrible dream I had last night out of my head.
I slowly got up and willed myself to move. My anxiety was slowly starting to creep in as the reality of starting over at a new school was setting in on me. Thoughts of the disaster that had occurred at my last school forcing me to leave kept replaying through my mind. I shuddered and headed down the stairs to grab some breakfast and leave for school.
When I got to school. I got out of the car and set my sights on finding the office. I walked through the big double doors of the school trying not to make a fool of myself on the first day. I walked through the hallways that were slowly starting to fill with chattering teens and finally found the office. I walked in the door and saw a plump woman with glasses and bright red lipstick eating a chocolate bar while talking on the phone. I cleared my throat to get her attention.
"I'll be in with you in a second," she said with a high pitched annoying voice.
'Great' I thought to myself. A secretary who doesn't do anything.
I waited for a good 5 to 10 more minutes before she finally got off the phone and waddled over to me.
"What'd you need?" she asked with almost a snarl in her voice.
"U-um" I stuttered. "It's my first day of school here. I need my schedule please." I said trying to look at anything but the eyes that seemed to look right into my soul.
"Here ya go," she said and turned around and went straight to finishing her candy bar.
I just turned around and walked out of the office knowing that she wouldn't show me around the school and help me find my classes. I walked around the hallway trying to find room number 15. Homeroom was my first hour and being late was not going to make a good impression on the teachers here. But if the teachers were anything like the secretary then she got the feeling that it really wouldn't matter if I was late or not.
I was looking down at my paper when I accidentally ran into someone and sent all my stuff flying. I fell to the ground with a thud.
"I'm so..." I trailed off. I couldn't believe such a handsome man was standing in front of me. He had beautiful black hair that just barely covered his right eye and his eyes were an icy blue that seemed to pierce my soul. He was wearing a black leather jacket, paired with a worn down red t-shirt, and loose fitting blue jeans with a pair of black sneakers.
"Sorry..." I mumbled in a daze as I continued to stare.
He just glared at me. He swiftly picked up my books and helped me up. He handed my books to me and walked away. I turned around, entranced by this strange man, and saw him turn the corner. I must have been hallucinating but I swore I saw him turn around and look at me for just a moment.
I turned around and walked off to try and find my class once again on my own with a new eerie emotion creeping its way into my heart.
