It was a dark and stormy night. The wind was howling and the waves were crashing against the shore viciously. A young girl by the name of Olivia laid sleepily in her bed. Although she loved living beside the sea, she didn't like it when rare immense storms like this occured. She turned uncomfortably from side to side but it was no use, she just couldn't fall asleep. As the lightning crashed and the thunder rumbled, Olivia tried closing her tired eyes again and this time, she fell asleep despite all the noise.

The following morning, Olivia woke to her curtains shining a bright yellow-type colour. She sat up and yawned. "I wonder what time it is" she muttered, stretching her arms out. She blinked a few times and rubbed her eyes before opening her bedroom curtains. The sparkling blue ocean stared back at her as the sun shone brightly into her room. She threw off her lilac duvet and climbed out of bed. She switched off her lamp and turned on her alarm clock; 8:42. Olivia slipped on her fluffy purple slippers and violet dressing gown and made her way out of her room.

As she sleepily started to make her way downstairs, Olivia heard her stomach rumble. "I'm starving," she said "I wonder what's for breakfast."

*

"Good morning!" exclaimed her mother, bright-eyed and wide awake "Now then, what would you like for brekky?"

"Brekky?" enquired Olivia, taking a seat at the wooden oak table. "Yes, brekky! It's an abbreviation for breakfast!" answered her mother, Louise. "Hhhmmm" thought Olivia. "Coco-Pops on toast?" suggested her mum. "Coco-Pops on toast?" Olivia repeated. "Yes, it's the breakfast of the week!" explained Louise. "How do you know that?" asked Olivia, curious of her mother's reply. "Why, it's all over the meals section on the internet!" she retorted. "Anyway," Olivia began, "as nice as that sounds, could I have them separately please?"

"Of course!" Louise said.

Later on, Olivia sat in her room, bored. "Are you ok, sweetheart?" called up her mother. "Yeah. Just a bit bored!" she replied. "But I know what to do now!" Olivia shouted down.

"Ok, well, if you need me, I'm down here" Louise said. Olivia grabbed her phone from her bedside table and turned it on. There was one, lonely, unread text from her best friend, Lucy. 'Hey Liv! Wanna come bowling with me today?' It read. Olivia unlocked her phone and started to text a reply; 'Sure, I just need to ask my mum x.' Olivia immediately sprinted down the stairs shouting, "Mum! Mum!"

"What is it?" Louise enquired.

"Can I go bowling with Lucy today?" she asked.

"Yes. Could I drop you off at her house at about 9:30?"

"I'll ask Lucy" Olivia replied, already starting to text her friend. "She said thats fine."

"Ok, you better go and get dressed then!" ordered her mother. With that, Olivia ran back upstairs to choose her clothes. 'hhhmmm' she thought as she opened her empurpled wardrobe. 'What shall I wear?' Eventually, she picked out some deep violet shorts, a lilac top with a purple butterfly in the centre and some matching coloured converse. "Perfect!" she said aloud. In just a few minutes, Olivia was all ready to go bowling with Lucy.

"Hello?" asked Lucy as she answered the phone. "Hey Luc! I'm all ready for today! Can my mum drop me off now please? It's only 9:15."

"Sure" Lucy replied, her voice crackling from phone service.

*

Lucy answered the glass door to reveal Olivia. "Hi Luc! Ready to go bowling?!" exclaimed Olivia.

"Absolutely! I can't wait!" Lucy replied, jumping with excitement. "Girls! We're going in a minute!" called Lucy's mother. "Ok!" answered Lucy, rolling her eyes.

The girls grabbed their handbags on the way out and eagerly climbed into Lucy's mother's car. Olivia liked the car for many reasons. It's familiar smell of lavender from the air freshener, the seats being not too far away from each other but closely touching, she liked that the car's roof could fold into a special boot in the back on a warm, summers day like that very one. "It sure is hot today!" said Olivia using her hand as a fan for her face. "Yes, it is" replied Annabel.

"Should we put the roof down?" she added.

"Yes yes yes!" the girls answered. They loved it when Annabel put the roof down into the special boot, Olivia wished her mum's car could do that.

"Ok then, here we go!" She held her finger on the button.
