The banging sound wakes me up from my sleep. "What the hell?" I groan, rubbing my eyes.

The noise stops for a second before picking back up.
I get out of bed and walk over to the window.
A soccer ball comes flying at the window again.

That could only be one person. I lift the window open and stick my head out.

"Took you long enough" Zabdiel says. "I like my sleep" I reply.
He smiles, "yo también. Pero oye do you want to go somewhere with me?"

I bite my lip, "where?" "It's a surprise" he replies. "How do I know I can trust you?" I ask. "You know you can" he replies.

I look at the bedroom door and back at him, "okay me voy."
He cheers, "I'll meet you out front. Take your time."

I nod and close the window. What do I wear?
I look out the window but he's already gone. I run out the room and towards the front door of the house.

"Buenos días nena" my mom says. "Hola mamá" I reply, breathing heavily. "Where are you going?" she asks.

"..is dad up?" I ask. She shakes her head. "Zabdiel asked me to go somewhere with him. Can I uh can I go?" I ask.

She smirks, "that's the boy you like?" I groan, "he's- he's cute."

"Está bien, puedes ir" she says. "Gracias gracias gracias" I chant.
I open the front door and see Zabdiel standing behind the fence.

"Zabdiel, how should I dress?" I ask. He looks up startled, "comfortable."

I nod and close the door. I run back to my room and quickly brush my teeth, wash my face and let my curly hair down.

I pick out a pair of black leggings and an oversized white t-shirt with some sneakers.

I grab my purse and walk out the door. Zabdiel looks up at me and smiles. "Ready?" he asks. I nod, "mhm."

We start walking in silence. "So.. cuantos años tienes?" I ask. "Diecisiete y tú?" he asks.

"Yo también" I reply. "This way" he says, grabbing my hand and guiding me around a corner.

I giggle because I almost trip and lose my balance. "Estás bien?" he asks. I bite my lip and nod.

Heat rises to my cheeks when I realize he hasn't let go of my hand.
"We're here" he says. I look up and take in my surroundings.

"Is this a dance studio?" I ask. He nods, "me gusta bailar mucho. I'm doing a small performance today" he says.

I smile wide, "enserio?" "Sí, estoy muy nervioso" he replies. "Don't be! I'm sure you'll do great. Come on" I say, pulling him into the studio.

"Someone's excited" he says under his breath. "Of course I am. I want to see you dance" I reply.

When we get inside Zabdiel takes the lead again and guides me to a room. "Zabdiel!" everyone cheers.

"Hola" he smiles and waves. They all stare at me and say nothing. "Awkward" I mumble.

Zabdiel chuckles, "ella es mi amiga. Se llama Emily." The people who are there immediately perk up and say, "hola Emily."

"Hola" I reply. The attention leaves us as everyone goes back to their own conversations. A girl with short brown hair approaches us, "estás listo o qué?"

"I need to change my clothes" Zabdiel replies, a frown forming on his face.

He tells me he'll be right back and disappears somewhere. "I've never seen you before" the girl says.

"Cómo te llamas?" I ask. "Brittany" she replies. "Well I've never seen you before either" I reply. "What are you doing with Zabdiel?" she asks.

"I'm here to watch his performance" I say with a duh tone. "No I mean do you like him?" she asks.

"I don't know yet" I reply. "Stay away from him" she says. "Why?" I ask. "Just trust me" she says.

Zabdiel walks back over to us, now in different clothing. "Estoy listo" he says smiling.
I force a smile on my face as I think of what Brittany could mean.

The two walk to the center of the floor and stand next to each other. When music starts playing they start dancing in such an elegant way. I stand there in awe at the art before my eyes. 

"He's amazing right?" someone next to me asks. I nod, "sure is." The performance lasts for about three minutes. After it's over everyone erupts in cheers. The two dancers look at all of us with huge smiles on their faces. 

"Emily come here" Zabdiel says. I make my way through the crowd to the center of the dance floor, "what's up?" 

"Te gusta bailar?" he asks. "Uh yeah me gusta bailar" I reply. "What do you like to dance to?" he asks. 

"I like to dance salsa" I reply, biting my lip. "You heard the woman play some salsa" Zabdiel says. My eyes open wide and I franticly start shaking my head, "no no no no not in front of all these people." 

The crowd starts cheering, "Emily Emily Emily!" 

"Come on give the people what they want" Zabdiel says. I look at them and back at him, "o-okay but you're dancing with me right?" 

He nods, "claro que si linda." 

Salsa music starts blaring through the speakers in the studio. Zabdiel grabs one hand and places the other on my hip, "ready?" 

I nod. 

When the beat drops he steps forward and I step back. "Wepaaaa" the crowd cheers. 

Zabdiel laughs and goes to spin me around. I completely forget about all the nerves and let them melt away with each step. 

After the song is over Zabdiel stare into each other's eyes and smile. That was the most fun I've had in a while. 

The crowd is cheering extremely loudly. "Eso fue increíble" he says. "Y muy divertido. Gracias por eso" I reply. 

"No hay problema niña bonita" he says. 

People start coming up to me and pull me away from him. 

"That was amazing" "you have to start dancing here" "look at you go" they say. 

I laugh, "thank you guys, but I only have a few months here." I look at Zabdiel and frown. I'm already having an amazing time with him, how am I going to leave him? 

"Necesito usar el baño" I say. "Over there" a girl points towards the door. 

I exit the room and walk over to the bathroom. There's no one else in there so I take the time to breathe because that was very overwhelming. 

A few minutes later I walk out the bathroom and bump into someone. "Ten cuidado" Zabdiel says. "Lo siento" I reply. "Está bien, tienes hambre?" he asks. 

As if on cue my stomach growls, "tengo mucho hambre." 

Zabdiel smiles, "let's go get some food then."
