Chapter 1 - Help

The boy did not looked surprised, it was as if he expected it. The jock called him a loser and then the bell went. Everybody went and left the boy searching for his glasses. I picked them up and held out my hand to help the boy.

When he had stood up, I handed him his glasses. He muttered a quick thank you and stared at me intently, as if he was trying to figure out who I was.

"Hi," I said. "I am Alex London. I'm new here. Have you seen Jayden Wilkins? He is supposed to be showing me around."

"Well, I'm Jayden."

He had a smooth, gentle voice that increased my butterflies even more.

"Everybody calls me Jai, well , if I had any friends, I would tell them to call me Jai..."

"Well then count me as your first friend, Jai." I said.

We looked at each other for a second and it was as if time had stopped.

We both broke away from our stare and he asked me if he could begin the tour. I nodded and we walked to the end of the hall, and opened the door.

Jai

I showed Alex the entire school. By the time I had finished, it was lunchtime. As always the cafeteria and picnic tables were full.

"Where are we going to sit?" asked Alex.

"My secret spot," I said.

A confused look was on her face. I grabbed her hand and ran to the back of the cafeteria. I climbed through a small hole in the gate, which led to a small patch of grass and a small willow tree.

Alex opened her mouth wide. She looked surprised.

"Jai, it's beautiful."

I grinned at her and gestured to the the willow tree.

She stared at me and I climbed to the top and disappeared inside.

Alex

Jai climbed to the top of the tree and jumped inside. I screamed. "Are you okay?" he said, with a sound of worry in his voice.

"You just fell down a tree!"

"Alex it's not deep! Come in."

I slowly climbed up the willow tree. When I had got to the top, I stared inside the hole Jai had jumped inside.
I swallowed and jumped.

Wow.

My jump ended a second later.

The tree looked so tall but ended up to be about a metre deep.

"Jai," I called. "Where are you?"

"There is a trapdoor under your foot. Climb down the ladder."

I opened the trapdoor and climbed down a four meter ladder.

Oh.

So the tree is deep.

You just jump a metre down and climb four metres down. I felt so dumb. My cheeks were turning red.

Jai let out a loud booming laugh. It made me laugh.

"I can't believe I was scared!" I said.
"Why didn't you tell me the jump was really small?"

"I wanted to see how scared you were of heights."

I laughed and pushed his head. He cocked his head to the side and mouthed the words 'try me'. I rolled my eyes.

A/N - The next part is what happened during the tour! I wanted to put this part at the end!

Alex

Jai opened the door to the science lab. A couple of students waved to me and said hello, but I stayed by Jai's side because I was too scared to make a conversation.

He sensed my fear and he put his arm around my shoulder. Was he allowed to do that? We had just met!

Still, it felt comforting , so I flashed a smile in return.

Next, we went to the maths department. I met Jai's math teacher and he told us the school curriculum. I still felt a bit uncomfortable, but Jai smiled at me. "So this is your girlfriend then?" said Jai's teacher.

"Mr Bailey!" said Jai.

I laughed and told the teacher I was new to the school. When we were leaving, the teacher mouthed something to Jai.

I wonder what it was.

Jayden

We had spent such a long time in the science lab and maths department that I did even realise that it was nearly time for lunch.

I grabbed Alex and we ran to the English, Art, IT, Drama, Design, Geography and History departments.

I showed her all of the classrooms in less than ten minutes.

Except gym.

The bell rang signalling that lunch was about to start.

"QUICK!" I shouted.

She furrowed her brow, but I had no time to answer the few questions that were popping up in her mind.

We were too late.

All the students came rushing form different classrooms. I lifted Alex on my back and ran.

We made it to an area behind the stairwell.

"What was that?" she said.

I laughed and told her about the mob of students that emerge during lunch break.

She touched my shoulder and said thank you.

I felt like my shoulder was going numb. I looked into her hazel eyes.

She looked at me back innocently. What was I doing? I never let anyone be this close to me. Probably the reason why until today, I had no friends.

But something about Alex was different.

A/N - So Jai is confused about Alex!
This was the first chapter, so I tried to make it as long as I could! In the next episode you will see who I picked out for the character of Jai.
