I quickly back away, recognizing the voices to be Valerie Martin and Christian, who I have a bad history with.

I quickly re-enter the cafeteria, and Myles gives me a confused look.

"No bathroom?"

"People were having an intense argument in there, I couldn't walk in on them."

"Geez, they need to have a better place to argue than a school hallway. It's really weird." He remarks, and it's true.

"Speaking of weird arguments...." He refers to Dana and Jen, who are still arguing, but on a different topic now.

"I'm telling you, Jen, jalapeño peppers cannot and will not give you cancer if you eat too many!"

"Yes they can, I've read a ton of articles on it!"

"From where?"

"You know....legit websites." Jen is losing this argument, and Dana can tell.

"Oh yeah? What websites?" Dana says, smugly crossing her arms.

"Pass."

"I win." Dana proudly states, and Jen scoffs, crossing her arms.

Myles and I are cracking up at their silly argument, and they join in on us, realizing how stupid they just sounded.

The bell signaling the end of the day rings, and we all rush to the doors, so we aren't crushed by the wave of students rushing to get to their busses.

"Shall I be giving you a ride home today, Miss Trebech?" Myles asks, bowing and sticking his hand out as if he were offering me a dance.

"Why, yes, Mr. Jensen, you will." I take his hand, and he twirls me around, both of us giggling like idiots.

We walk to his car, and we're abruptly cut off by Christian, stalking off to his car angrily.

"Geez, whats his problem?" Myles asks, watching him.

"He was the one who was having an intense argument with, it was between him and Valerie, it was not pretty, let me tell you."

We climb into his car, and he puts his keys into the ignition, pulling out of the school parking lot.

"He may be major eye candy, but I can tell he has some deep shit going in with him." Myles comments, and I nod in agreement.

Myles is literally the most gay person I know, and he's only ever come out to me and his mom, and he still has yet to tell his dad. But for now, it's just between the three of us.

"So, what was that argument about?" He asks.

"He seemed super angry about Valerie sleeping with every guy. It was pretty intense." He lets out a low whistle.

"That's mistake number one: never call a hoe out for her deeds. They'll turn aggressive faster than you can say Quidditch."

I laugh when he says this, and we sit in a comfortable silence as he turns onto my street.

He drops me off at my house, and I wave my goodbye as he pulls away.

I enter my empty house, and I see my little dog Portly dashing towards me excitedly.

"Portly!" I exclaim, taking him up into my arms. He licks my face lovingly, whimpering and barking his excitement.

"Oh yes, I missed you too, buddy!" I say to him, and I place him down, racing him up to my bedroom.

I do my homework for the majority of the afternoon, while Portly lays on my lap.

————

I finish at around four, and I make Portly his dinner, then letting him out so he can go so his business and get a treat.

Once I'm done, I shoot a text to our group chat, asking if anyone would want to order in at my place and hang out at 5.

Best fraaaaand (Myles): Coming now, get the menus!

The greatest person in your phone (Jen): Can't, my boss decided to give me a last minute shift :(

My best idiot (Dana): I also can't, babysitting my neighbors demons...I mean kids! Have fun though!

Myles is here in a matter of ten minutes, and we're heavily debating between Thai food or pizza.

"But we had pizza last time! And the last time before that!" I complain, and he shoots a look at me, glancing between the two menus.

"Since when do you care how often you have pizza?" He asks, placing his hands on his hips.

He has a point.

"But Thai food...." I offer, and he rolls his eyes.

"Fine, it's your house anyway." I hug him tightly, thanking him immensely, and he playfully shoves me away.

I order myself crispy Pad Thai and him some regular Pad Thai, with a side of spring rolls for the two of us to split.

Once it comes and we've dug in on my couch, an episode of Riverdale playing off Netflix, and he moans when he puts his first bite of food in his mouth, looking over at me.

"Okay, I know I insulted Thai food before, but this is pretty fucking good." I shoot him a pointed look as if to say I told you so, and he laughs, and I join him a second later.

"Also, I want to fuck everyone on this show, especially Kevin and Joaquin." He comments, pointing his chopsticks at the TV, where the two characters are pressed up against the fence, heavily making out.

"Who doesn't? I mean, look at KJ Apa, that boy may be a corny football-music man but damn does he have abs." I say, and Myles shoots me a confused look.

"What? A corny football-music man?"

"Yeah, up until the last two episodes he's just your basic kind of guy. He's 100% a 'You don't understand my music, Dad, I hate you!' type of character." I explain, and he ponders this for a moment.

"But what about that thing with Ms. Grundy?" He asks.

"That added something to it, but it really stuck out once she left." He nods, agreeing with me.

Myles phone suddenly buzzes, his dads name flashing across the screen.

"Ugh, why?" He groans, picking it up.

"Hi, Dad.....I'm at Sally's, what's up......Now?.....Okay, I'll be home," He pouts at me, "See you soon...bye."

"As much as it pains me to say, I must return to my humble abode. I had so much fun!" He says, wrapping me up in a tight hug.

"I'm glad you could make it, I'll see you tomorrow, Myles!" Once he leaves, I clean up my food, putting any leftovers in the fridge.

I go back upstairs, shutting off the TV beforehand.

I change into my cozy pajamas, and when I check the time, it's actually almost 10, which means that I've been hanging out with Myles for almost five hours and I'm ready for bed. I wash up, brushing my teeth in my attached bathroom in my room, and I climb into bed, Portly curling up next to me.

I soon fall asleep, the sounds of Portly snoring the only noise in the quiet night.
