Eyes, my fate took a swift turn the day I looked into them. Dark little balls that pierce through the lens encasing them. Sometimes I just look at them and break into a light chuckle for no reason, or a ghostly smile appears on my face from just thinking about them. They are my addiction in the early Monday morning.
The morning of Monday. The crisp autumn air and the smell of the dew on the grass. This day spoke of aesthetic on one glance. I take in a deep breath and let the cold air escape my mouth. As I sit in wait for the bus I hold my phone and wait for the vibration of a text that would wake me from my morning trance. After moments of zoning out there it came the light ding.
Person: Gm Rain
A small smile escaped my lips as I read it, Rain. Rain is the best thing I love about the world. It is also my favorite pet name I was given. I never knew why I loved rain so much but when it rains I fall in love with every element It comes with. I fall for the playful sprinkles of water that land on my face and the loud thumps as it clashes into my window when the late night storms come. I love it all.
...
The world is full of so many lives that have lived so many moments but every day is a new moment that is authentically created by you and those around you. I walk to an empty seat and plug in my headphones. I turn on my playlist "4:39 am". I zone out and tune out all of my observation skills. I escape into my mind and close my eyes, but I can't fully escape this feeling of ecstasy filling my gut. This burning sensation of euphoria. The excitement of seeing my favorite distraction in the day. So I open my eyes and look to my right to see them.
Two dark balls that stand out even with the glass shields blocking them. My addiction on Monday morning. Then I hear the calming voice speak its hoarse melody to my ears. "Good Morning," was all he had to say with his charming smirk. I nodded and stated the same, "Good Morning". We continued to stare for a few more seconds just smiling at each other before someone spoke again. I once again got my weekly dose of endless stares. He startled me with this question "Want to hang out with me today instead".
I looked at him bewildered before contemplating on skipping my volunteer hours for this week. "Sure," I say with a smirk, "why not". I usually don't do things like this. I like to stay on schedule and stay on track I like when everything is already planned out and thought about carefully, but this was different. Sadly that's what I like most about this guy he always surprises me and I can't seem to figure him out. He's like a free bird that flies away from the flock and stays for the winter instead of traveling south. It's strange but I am drawn to it.
He flashed his angelic, wicked smile that I loved so much. It was perfection even in its flaws and that's why I loved it. I loved his smile because it was so rare to see that you would never guess how it had little flaws, but I've been one of the lucky few to see it. I am able to see the perfection of a simple gesture not many are able to see.
