Hidden in Plain Sight

Lucy was an average teenage highschooler taking care of her sickly, pale mother. Her mother had been ill for a while now, but she didn't want to take her mother to the hospital again only to get the same result. She was told by every doctor available, "She doesn't have long before she dies. I suggest you put her to rest yourself and cherish every last moment." Lucy didn't like the thought of her mother leaving her so she kept her safe from the dangers outside of home. The phone started ringing. "It's okay mother, I'll handle it." Lucy answered then hung up as quick as possible then cut the landline. She walked back into the room with her mother. "It was nothing just a couple of kids playing around. They left." She grabbed a wet rag and started to wipe her mother's forehead. "You'll never leave me, right mother?" Her mother started to cry while muffling under the duct tape covering her mouth. "Aw, it's okay mother I'll keep you here with me forever, okay?" She tore the duct tape off her mothers face and asked, "What's wrong mother? Are you okay?" Her mother softly replied, "Ashley. Why are you doing this? Don't you love me?" Lucy was confused after what she just said. Lucy walked away from her mother but tripped over her father's lifeless corpse on the way out. "Oops. Sorry daddy." She got back up and continued to walk away and exit the room. "Don't need you leaving now do we?" She stated as she closed the door and locked it behind her menacingly laughing. She sat at the door continuing to laugh but slowly starting to cry. "What is happening? Why am I crying?" The tears started flowing down. "Who is Ashley? She doesn't love me. She forgot my name." She got up and wiped away her tears. She started to put on her school uniform but as she walked through the door she forgot her mother's car keys, so she ran back in and grabbed them. Before she could leave she stood there and suddenly she was confused, "Where am I?" She thought about it then payed no mind to it. "Oh well." She got the keys and walked out then drove to school. "Hey Ashley!" It was Taylor, Ashley's best friend. "Hey Taylor." Taylor ran up to Ashley and hugged her so tight. "Wow your breasts have gotten larger since the summer break." Ashley started giggling "Thanks, you grew a few inchess taller too." Taylor looked up at Ashley, "Aaw, no fair. You cheated." Taylor and Ashley laughed and walked to class. "You're late. Take a sit and start working!" Ashley sat down as quick as she could. The teacher never yells at her, he loved her. She was his favorite student, so why was he being so rude? Taylor chuckled, "What happened to the bad ass Ashley." Ashley looked confused, "What are you talking about?" Ashley waited for Taylor to answer but was yelled at again. "Sit down or get out!" Ashley sat down and started to do her work but was still concerned as to what Taylor said.
