Hi there, my name is Billie Flynn and I'm 17 years old living in Perranporth, Cornwall, and this is the story of my tragic life.
I'm sorry if you started reading this book hoping it to be a sweet romance novel of love and cute heart eyed emojis, but unfortunately this is a story not made for the faint hearted. But let's give you the D/L on the last three and a half years of my life, as of recently the amount of blood relatives I have has gone down from 4 to 1. My family was very tiny, my Mum and Dad were both single children and both their parents died before I was born. And before you start to try and think of some heart throbbingly sad way of how this whole tragedy happened, let me tell you first; Three years ago I was living happily in Brighton with my Mum, my Dad, my brother Joe and my sister Tanya. We lived in a small 3 bedroom flat on top of a NatWest bank in the middle of possibly the dodgiest part of Brighton. In 2014 alone there were 11 murders, 20 stabbings and 24 drug involved attacks and fights. Terrifying right? Well your going to think that's nothing once you hear my story.
We bounced from flat to flat to council house for 5 years before settling down in what I liked to call the 'dodgy NatWest palace' or 'DNWP'. The rent was around the £500 mark so it was affordable for pretty much anyone under sun. After a month and a bit of living there me and my family started to realise how dangerous it was for us, especially with me being the oldest at the sweet age of 14 with my brother Joe being 6 and Tan being only 5 we decided to increase our security (seeing as our government gave us £2000 a month of benefits, this left us with a hefty load of money left each month) by putting a security system up around the whole flat and barricading the lowest and most easy to access windows. This decision had given me and my family a sense of false hope and security given the town that we lived in, as we all believed it would keep us safe. But we were very ,and i cannot stress this enough, VERY wrong. On the 11th of December in 2014 me and my family were involved in a robbery gone extremely wrong, and I can remember every single disturbing, terrifying and dreadful second of it, as if it were yesterday.
