Zane's PoV
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
I asked Matthew, who planned a 7-day cruise with himself, my friend Tristan, my friend Connor and myself.
"Zane, I thought you were smart! You can surely work out a holiday is just what we need."
Ok, he was paying for this so I couldn't argue and I was his friend so I should really go with him.
I looked back at Tristan and Connor, the expression on Tristan and Connor's face said that they were in complete and utter awe. I don't blame them, the beautiful collection of piers each with an enormous cruise ship tied to it. Matthew face showed pure excitement. We continued toward the boarding ramp I walked straight on handing my ticket to the security guard and pulling my suitcase behind me. I turned around to see Matthew repeating what I did closely followed by Tristan and then Connor.
Something behind Connor caught my eye, a man with a hooded jumper and red eyes. My first thought was run, I knew red eyes aren't natural but he was wearing a jumper in Brownsville. Brownsville has an average temperature of 37 degrees, and has-
"Watch out!"
Matthew yelled, he had spotted the man with his unnaturalness, who was now running. We ran on board, I spared a glimpse back when one-tenth of a second passed when we passed the end of the doorframe, and saw the man lift up the guard, throw him into the water and follow us suite. I closed the door, earning a
"That's not gonna stop him!"
from Matthew. Ignoring it I slammed down the lever that was conveniently labelled 'DOOR SEALER, USE IN EMERGENCIES.'

I sat in our cabin -243- watching Matt, Tristan and Connor put away their things. I couldn't help wondering what the man wanted with us like, what did we do? It wasn't long before Connor said;
"What was the deal with the 'Man-Thing'?"
We looked at Connor, he looked at us in turn. Finally, Tristan spoke up and said,
"Maybe he just doesn't like... uhhh..."
"People?" I finished for him.
"Yeah, what he said."
"He did look angry." Connor added to the conversation, which now was turning into conspiracy theory about the 'Hunger Games©' happening without warning.
"I could definitely shoot an arrow 150 metres into the air and hit a bullseye!"
"Bet you couldn't"
"YES I COULD!!!"
"NO YOU COULDN-"
"Guys shut up! Can you see poor Tristan blocking his ears?"
I shouted at Matthew and Connor, they turned to look at Tristan who was cowering in a corner with his eyes closed, fingers in ears and repeating "Lalalalalalalalalalalalala".
"Now, say sorry", I offered.
"Sorry, Matthew"
"Hell nah."
"Now," I said "We hide from the thumping noise coming toward us."
"Wha?" Connor started
"NOW!"
"Ok, Ok"
I ran over to Tristan and said to him "Hide, don't ask, just hide"
He scrambled off like Connor and Matthew had done. The noise had started to be known at the average level of human hearing which was-
'Never mind!' I told myself ', hide as well!' I ran toward the bunk and slid under. I saw Matthew take the closet, Connor went under the blanket and Tristan hid behind the door. The thumping noise stopped, I held my breath, the door slowly opened to reveal...
Room service? No something was wrong, she didn't look right and we never ordered anything, something didn't look right apart from the torn and tattered clothing, messed up hair and red eyes. Wait, red eyes? Know I knew what was wrong. She was one of them.

It was sure hot in the closet! But luckily I could see through the crack. I had watched Tristan get behind the door, Connor slip under the blanket and Zane slide under the bunk. When room service came I was going to tell her that we never ordered anything, but something about her didn't feel right, so I didn't. She took a step forward, this was when things got weird! She tilted her hair back and sniffed the air, yes, sniffed the air! She paused, then a faint hissing noise was heard and she went running and screaming out of the room. I opened the closet door and stepped out. The first thing I noticed is that there was the smell of garlic in the air. That was strange I don't remember using Vampire Repellent in here. Zane crawled out, Connor jumped off and Tristan closed the door.
"Pee Yoo!" Connor exclaimed.
"Yeah, what stinks?" Tristan added
"Vampire Repellent obviously!" Zane said holding up a can of Vampire Repellent and shaking it.
"Oh! So that's how the smell got here and what that hissing noise was!" I said, earning a nod from Zane.
"Yeah, I was lying under the bunk, hoping she wouldn't smell us and my foot touched something which was this," He said, giving the can a shake.
"So, I reached over, grabbed and read the label and 98% of it was garlic. So I did the math and since her nose has enhanced smell, the garlic would be too strong for her to cope with!" We looked at Zane with astonishment.
"You are so smart!" Connor said and Zane nodded at that.
"Well, she's gone now and we should report this to the captain" I interjected, "actually the vampires would have killed everyone-" said Tristan
"Except for us" Connor reminded Tristan,
"-So we'd just be heading straight for danger!" he continued, he did have a point. I don't want to do what everyone does in a horror movie.
"But how would we stop them? If we cower in our room? We'd eventually run out of Vampire Repellent, now wouldn't we?" said Zane, who after finishing thought for a moment, and then said;
"Ok, I vote to look around and find out what's what". After that Connor and I looked at each other, turned back to Zane and said,
"Me too"
"Count me in"
Tristan shook his head and backed away saying;
"I'm staying here I got my own Vampire Repellent and I can give you a Walkie Talkie to communicate!"
"Ok, see ya Tristan!" Zane snuck out, then Connor, and me but I froze turned around and gave Tristan one last look getting a "good luck" and leaving the room.
