It was almost 3am, everybody else in the house had went to sleep hours ago accept for Evelyn. Evelyn loved to read. Reading was something she did to block out all of the crappy things that went on in her life. She would stay up late every night just reading about whatever seemed interesting at the time. The room gave off a dull green glow due to her small reading light. Tonight she was reading about the something that had confused humanity for years: The Fermi Paradox.

The Fermi Paradox states that there are over 60 billion habitable planets in the Milky Way Galaxy, so why haven't we found any life?

Sure there were multiple explanations for this, there is the theory that space is to vast and the signals would take to long to reach Earth, then there was the theory that we dont have the proper technology yet. But one theory caught Evelyn's eye, it was called the Simulation Theory. The Simulation Theory stated that life itself was a computer simulation and we were the only life forms programed into the simulation. Evelyn thought about this for a moment, and suddenly it made sence. After all, technology had advanced so much in the past few years, it was unbelievable. We went from having computers as big as houses to computers as small as a dollar bill. In a few years we could be able to create virtual reality indistinguishable from actual reality. Maby this simulation was set in the past and people from the future were currently watching to better educate themselves on how life used to be. Maby getting sick was just a bad computer virus, Maby experiencing deja vu was just a glitch.

Evelyn woke up the next day to the sound of her two younger sister screaming at each other down the hallway.  Evelyn immediately knew something was off. She felt terrified, she felt as if life didn't matter anymore and she felt like somebody was stalking her every move. It was normal for her to sisters, Erika and Elizabeth to fight, but something wasn't quite right.

Evelyn looked in the mirror, her long dark hair pulled into a tight pony tail as her green eyes stared back at her. Why was she so terrified? "Hey mom, I'm going for a quick walk." She declared, "Okay, be careful, you heard what was on the news" her mom replied, "Why, what was on the news?" Evelyn asked, her mom didn't reply. Evelyn shrugged her shoulders and steps out onto the front porch. Evelyn was taken by surprise. Why was it so dark? It hadn't been this dark before and she hadn't woken up early. Evelyn glanced up at the sky and screamed. The entire sky was pitch black and in the darkness were rows of ones and zeroes glowing green across the black sky. The Simulation Theory was more than just a theory after all.

There was the story. I hoped you liked it!  This was my first Sci-Fi story so don't judge. I will try to update every Sunday. 👽😊
