Chapter 21- The Test

Hayes' POV-

     Cason, his dad, Addie, and I all made our way down to the station. The ride was awkward and silent. Addie was still mad and I was trying to figure out what to do during questioning. Cason was just being awkward because who wouldn't be in that situation and Cason's dad was trying to spark a conversation but failing miserably.

"So what class is this project for?" he would ask, my answer would be a maximum of 1 or 2 words.

"Desktop Publishing."

"Oh is it fun?"

"Yeah."

After about 2 minutes of that Mr. Hoate (Cason's dad) gave up on trying to communicate with us. The rest of the ride I sat there thinking of a way for Mr. Hoate to be out of the room while we film so he doesn't realize that this isn't really a project for school.

After we arrived in the station we were checked for guns or any other type of weapon in those things that are like hand held metal detectors that they use at the airport. Next Mr. Hoate put me in handcuffs to make our "film" believable.  He sat me in a chair in the questioning room and hooked me up to the lie detector. When we were ready to film I asked Mr. Hoate to leave because we didn't want him seeing or hearing the film until it was finished. He stepped out and we proceeded with the questioning. We started with trial questions, easy stuff that Addie knew I wasn't lieing about.

"Did you break that lamp last week and blame Nash for it?" asked Addie.

I sighed. "Yes." The lie detector did nothing, I think that means I was telling the truth, it should anyway because I was.

"Okay time for the true questions to start." said Addie.

Cason started to roll the videocamera because his dad and the whole "project".

Addie took a deep breath and started to speak.

"Were you....buying drugs from....those boys?"

"No." I said.

Nothing happened.

"Oh Hayes!" said Addie hugging me as tight as she could. "I'm so sorry I didn't believe you I'm such an idiot!" she said as guilty tears started rolling down her face.

"Shhhh baby, baby you didn't do anything. Shhh its okay." I whispered in her ear while stroking her hair. She just cried into my shoulder probably leaving tear stains, but no one really cared. Cason interupted us.

"Aaannnd cut!"

We all piled out of the room and into Mr. Hoate's car. The drive was again silent, but not awkward in any way, shape, or form. It was cozy and warm and inviting. When we got to my house Addie got out with me considering she is my neighbor and can just walk home when she wants to. I opened the front door and we walked in.

"We should do something tonight!!" said Addie plopping herself on the couch.

"Like what?"

"I don't know just something with just the two of us."

"I know what we could do!"

"What?"

"uh uh uh a gentleman never tells what he is going to do on a date!" I said wavingmmy finger.

"Pwweeeaaaasssee!" She said kissing both my cheeks then my lips then looking at me with her big brown eyes. Her eyes are so beautiful, I can seriously get lost in them for days, years even.

"Sorry, all I can say is that I'll pick you up at 6 and to wear something nice!"

"Fine!" She said crossing her arms. "oh my gosh its almost 5 I need to get home and start getting ready!"

She jumped off the couch and started sprinting towards her house.

      Heyyyy so so sorry I haven't been on I have had testing all week amd a science project and I've been soooooo busy with cheer and school and SADD so yeah and its Easter weekend!!!
