Prologue

Have you ever been swimming out on a lake? And the water is super still, and you're just floating there, and it's so relaxing?

It's nice, isn't it?

Now, have you ever fallen asleep when you're floating on a lake?

No?

You haven't?

Well, you are smarter than I am.

And, just so you know, waking up under water, with water in your throat and nose, is most definitely one of the most terrifying things you can ever experience.

One moment, you're floating on the water, calm and relaxed. The next, you're under the murky water. And you can't see, and you can't breath.

And then, there's a hand reaching down, pulling you out of the water.

that hand is now the most important thing in your life.

This event is not only a very..... unique experience, but it is also an amazing metaphor for what happened to me this year.

I met people that I never thought I would know.

I went places I never thought I'd go.

It's kind of a long story, so how about we start at the beginning.
