"ROSE!"
I couldn't stand it here; I needed out.
Today would be the day I finally escaped this prison. Picking up my old, raggedy brown bag, I ran down the hall.
My footsteps were the only thing that could be heard.
The white tile walls of the hallway were old, and seemed to mold over.
"HURRY UP, ROSE!"
Were they here? Finally? I had waited so long, thirteen years alone in that dark maroon room. My footsteps tapped against the dirty floors of the dimly lit hall. Making my way to the exit, I frowned.
No one had come to my rescue. I sighed, looking to Cassie. She gave me a smile, seemingly noticing my frown as I watched the other kids.
"They'll find you someday, Bree."
She rested her hand on my shoulder and gave it a light squeeze before she left.
I hadn't been watching her for long when I felt another hand.
Oh, no...
"They'll find you someday, Bree!" she mimicked. I rolled my eyes, turning to face her.
"Back off, Katie." I scolded. She gave off a mischievous laugh.
I hated when she laughed.
"Why don't you go back to squealing in your room?" she asked, "Oops, I meant singing."
I ignored her, walking off. It wasn't the first time I had to deal with her bullying.
"Just face it, Rose -- you're never getting out of here; it's no wonder your mom gave you up."
Swallow it, Rose, I thought, continuing along.
Then, I heard screaming. My eyes widened as I turned around, noticing a large vehicle decorated with...skulls?
I gripped my bag tight as if it were a weapon of some sort. I wasn't scared of cars, but this was something else.
I noticed that the people in the car weren't people.
They were skeletons that wore helmets, and had big red eyes. I gasped as they stepped towards the building.
I noticed them aiming for the adults.
I regretted what I did next.
"Hey!"
The biggest one turned to me.
"Catch me if you can, bonehead!" I taunted, before running off around the perimeter of the building. I could hear his bones rattle as he chased me down, and I screamed. I took out my keychain from the bag, before throwing said bag at him.
That didn't do anything.
"...Whoops."
Eventually he had cornered me, and pulling out his large sword, I could feel my heartbeat in my stomach. I closed my eyes in fear as he swung.
However, I hadn't felt the sword hit me.
Waiting a few seconds beforehand, I opened my eyes, noticing a figure in front of me; I was too busy backing away and hiding to see who my savior had been, but when I did get a chance, I could only see his back as well as the large hat on his head.

I watched his golden...tornado thing -- whatever it was -- in awe. I didn't know what it was, but I was too intrigued to care.
I knew I wanted it for the wrong reasons.
Like to use on Katie.
The fight had gone on for a while, and I was impressed by how well such an elderly man could fight.
This guy's beard reached to the black belt tied around his waist.
