Cursed

The awakening

Lucas tossed and turned at the annoying beeping of his alarm Clock indicating that he had to leave bed and get ready for school.
"Lucas!" Lucas's mom called from downstairs.
"yes mom"he replied
"get down here or do you wanna be late for your first day at school?"
"coming mom I need to take my bath first"
"hurry up I need to be in the office in thirty minutes "
"OK mom"
Lucas was African American teen, 6'2 tall, chestnut eyes am a well toned athletic build that made him look like a body builder, he had lost his dad when he was three and his mum had to juggle between being a mom and her work, she had been transferred from her department in Brooklyn to buffalo, and Lucas wasn't so keen on new places.
"mom,am done"
Lucas called out to his mum as he climbed down the stairs.
"OK, be right there in a jiff"
It was a 15 minute drive from their home to the school.
"good luck honey, be sure to be good"
"mom..... I ain't a kid,am 17"
"OK "big man " I'll see you at 8, you have your spare key right?"
"ya mom"
"bye, love you"
"bye"
Lucas made his way down the hallway to the Dean of students affairs office, he stopped a boy to ask for directions
"uh hey.. Sorry if am bothering.. But I was wondering if you could point Me to the Dean's office "
"which one "
"student affairs" Lucas said with a grin on his face
"sure, am headed that way too"
"thanks am Lucas by the way"
"am Steve, you are new here right? "
"wow,what gave it away" Lucas said with a hint of sarcasm
Steve smiled
"well just walk up it's the first office on your right, I need to be getting to class now"
"cya, thanks again"
Lucas went to the Dean's office and came out  five minutes later with the Dean and his courses script. The Dean led him to his First Class and introduced him to the class as a new student. Lucas saw a spare seat close to a Goth girl and the window,their First Class was geology. Their geology teacher Mrs Jones welcomed Lucas to their class before she began
"OK class as you all know, our terminal road trip is almost on us, be sure not to miss it, as it's gonna be 60% of your grade this semester.
Lucas was fine till recess when he went out of class and saw two guys bulling another guy
"no  Lucas not on your first day...... Don't get into trouble on your first day... "
But alas Lucas was a trouble magnet, he stepped in to intervene.
