Located in the eastern Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California, is a street celebrated for its views of Los Angeles. David Lynch's 2001 film is suffused with the atmosphere of the road. One of the film's protagonists falls victim to a car crash while driving on Mulholland.
Numerous blind curves make the road dangerous for fast driving, but Abel ignores this risk, driving 120mph in a 45mph zone and contemplating the car drifting off the edge of a cliff. Despite the horrors of the scene, he's numb to the pain and appears to welcome it. He may also be suggesting he'll die before the age of 45 because of his dangerous lifestyle.
