Dean's P.O.V

For once everything is okay, more than okay actually so far I had everything I wanted. My broken little family was together and the hunting world is quiet; Cas and I have been dating for nine months and he’s human.

We were living in the bunker and it was becoming quite cosy, as a much as an underground bunker could be, but all that mattered was that we were finaly together, that we were all safe, that Sammy wasn’t in the fire anymore and Kevin was safe.

The only problem was, it was valentines day and Cas was pestering me about teaching him about it, so I was hiding; and I realize that hiding is a very childish thing to do but I’d like to see you deal with a curious ex angel.

So here I am in Sam’s room, as he cooks dinner.

“DEAN” I heard him call and I groaned as I realized I’d have to face Cas soon. I layed back against his bed I still hoped to god that he’d like what I got him. I fingered the small box in my pocket idly, before pulling it open to inspect the silver ring that looked like feathers woven around each other.

The door creaked open and I heard Sam call again “Dean dinner’s ready” I sighed “Sam, sit” I said softly sitting up and rubbing my face with my hand. “Dean what is it?” He asked looking concerned as he sat in front of me, “Where’s Cas?” I asked looking towards the door, Sam chuckled, “Don’t worry Dean your safe I told him to back down on the whole valentine thing” he chuckled going to stand up, looking suprised when I pulled him back down.

“Sam, that’s not why I’m hiding” I said looking down nervously I don’t know how to feel, I was having doubts not in Cas but if I was strong enough to be strong for him.

He furrowed his brow at me as he sat back down, “Why” “I don’t know what to get him for valentines day” I said, chickening out as I looked up at Sam, he chuckled, “Really Dean that’s all?” he asked incredulously, I looked down at my hands, that were clenched tightly around the small box.

I sighed, shoving the box back into my pocket scuffling my feet across the ground. “Dean what’s really going on here?” Sam asked, leaning towards me, “I just need your opinion on something” I muttered and I felt my cheeks go red, as I rubbed my neck.

Sam nodded hesitantly, “What would you say if I ah- asked Cas to marry me” I blurted out Sam’s mouth dropped, before he crushed me in a hug “I would say that’s great Dean-“ he pulled back “I’m so happy for you guys, I’ve never seen you want to get committed to anyone even Lisa”  “I didn’t know if I was going to do it or not” I whispered smiling a little, “No Dean, I know you love Cas you’ve been going out for nine months now” He said happily the moose was practically shaking with excitement.

“Yeah yeah, lets just get to dinner.” Sam smiled.

Cas' P.O.V

Dean has been avoiding me all day, and I was kind of upset.

Maybe I did something wrong, Sam had told me to ease off with the valentine thing and he wouldn’t even tell me what it was about.

“Come on Dean” I heard Sam say from the hallway.

I sat up straighter in my chair, I was really excited about valentines day but all I knew about it was that you were meant to get your partner something.

I was getting nervous; what I had gotten Dean was very personal to me, I don’t know if Dean is ready for the type of commitment I was willing to make, “Cas I found Dean hiding in my room” Sam chuckled as he pushed Dean into the chair next to mine.

I looked, anywhere but at Dean, who was looking at me curiously. Sam sat across from us and glanced over at me, “What’s wrong Cas” I sniffed “Oh I don’t know Sam, maybe it’s because Dean, my boyfriend, has been ignoring me all day” Dean laughed, and I glared over at him, “I’m sorry Cas, I was just, ah, tired” I squinted at him tilting my head, “You, Dean Winchester are lying” I said, he placed his hand on my cheek, stroking my cheek with his thumb, I leaned in his hand.

Sam coughed awkwardly I pulled away flushing. “Sorry Sam” I muttered, shoving the fork of beans in my mouth.

“Ah-Cas” Dean said softly, tapping me on the shoulder, “Yes Dean” I glanced over at him, and did a double take when I saw that his face was a bright red, “I got you a gift” he muttered, as he slipped out of his chair and down on one knee.

“Cas, I know you probably don’t understand what’s going on right now but just bear with me. Castiel I knew as soon as you raised me from hell that we were connected, but you saved in more ways than one, you were there for me in more ways than one. No matter how hard I try I can’t see a bearable future without you, I don’t know where I’d be without you by my side, and I love you more than I’ve loved anyone else, it’s not like when I was with Lisa; it’s like your the only thing tying me here like you’re the only thing I see. I’ve never been good at expressing myself and I’ve never wanted to be with just one person forever but then you came along and my whole world shifted and all I can think about is you” He chuckled nervously “So with all that said; Cas will you marry me?”, he looked up at me and I could see the anxiety in his eyes, I was just shocked Dean the man that went from woman to woman wants to be with a broken angel for the rest of his life.

My eyes started to water, of course I knew what he was asking, I’ve read about this. Marriage meant a bond, there’s no bond stranger than mine and Dean’s, but it was a human custom and if that meant being tied to Dean forvever then that’s what I want.

“Cas?” Sam hissed, and I realized I just said that out loud “You’re not broken Cas, either way we can be broken together” Dean whispered, placing his hand back on my cheek and pulled out a small ring box, which had a ring that looked like; silver woven feathers, and I started laughing hysterically.

“Wow Cas tell me how you really feel” Dean muttered going to pull the ring away.

“No Dean, I’m laughing because-“ I reached behind me, and pulled out the larger box containing my last feather, “I got you something too, Dean” his eyes widened and he took the box I held out to him, he looked at it in confusion when he found the feather and Sam must of understood what it was because he gasped.

“Ah thanks for the feather Cas” I groaned in fustration “No Dean, this isn’t a bird feather, this is my last feather, from my wings” “I muttered looking nervous “Oh Cas, I can’t take this” he said his eyes wide, I reached towards him and closed his hands around it “Dean when an angel gives you their feather its the equivalent of what you are doing right now” I whispered into his ear and before I could pull away he threw his arms around my neck.

“Yes Cas” I laughed, kissing his neck “And I will marry you Dean, never think I wouldn’t”
