*Malevolence's POV*
Grimy puddles splashed back at me as I ran across the dark streets. I could hear the voices behind me screaming in rage. My lungs ached in protest, but I didn't stop. The tall buildings rushed by me as I raced through the alley. I couldn't let them catch me no matter what. I saw my chance, a small ladder that led up into a window. I pulled myself up and slipped in, ducking down. I heard the men coming. The footsteps stopped. I didn't dare peek out, but I pressed my head as close to the window as I could without being seen.
"Where'd he go?" The first voice asked. I had to hold back a chuckle because they didn't realize that I wasn't a "he."
"I dunno. Maybe he went this way." The second voice said.
"Fine!" Started the third, "but we better hurry 'cause the boss ain't gonna be very happy if he gets away with It." The footsteps flew across the alley, and back into the streets.
I breathed a quiet sigh of relief, but I breathed too soon. There was a noise behind me like a person on bed springs. I whipped around to see a boy about my age sitting up in bed. "Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm a superhero." I replied smugly.
"How old are you?" The boy asked.
"Eight. What about you?" I replied.
"Me too. How can you be a superhero if you're only my age?" He asked.
"I can prove it to you. Wanna see my powers?" I asked.
The boy nodded so eagerly that his messy brown hair got in his green eyes and he had move it out.
"Watch." I said. Then I sat on the floor cross-legged and closed my eyes. I put my hands out in front of me and imagined a beautiful golden bubble surrounding me with light. I opened my eyes and it was so. The boy watched with wide eyes and I grinned in satisfaction. Then I popped the bubble and the boy bombarded me with questions.
"How did you do that? Can I? Are you really a superhero? Can you fly? Do you have any other powers?" Before I could answer any of these questions, I heard a voice from below.
"Justin? Are you awake? Who are you talking to?" The voice called. I turned and leapt out the window landing lightly on all fours.
Justin popped his head out the window just as I was about to leave.
"Wait! What's your name?" He asked.
"Malevolence!" I replied. Then I ran off into the darkness.
Ten years later...
I sat at a small round table out in front of a cafe. I was wearing my usual long black trench coat with the hood up. It put the right kind of shadow over my face so that no one could see any of my face. I was sipping a delicious caramel mocha and trying not to fidget too much. Fidgeting shows weakness. Under my hood I had long dark brown hair and blue eyes. I looked rather scrawny, but if anyone knew me they would know that it's all muscle, but nobody does so it doesn't matter. I was waiting.
I knew they would come sooner or later, but I had been there for twenty minutes and so I assumed it was going to be later. The waitress seemed to think that I was a rather strange customer, but I guess not all customers sit in a cafe for twenty minutes beofore getting a drink.
Just as I was finishing the last sip of mocha, it happened. A huge black van stopped in front of the bank nextdoor. I dropped some money next to my empty cup and dashed out onto the sidewalk. I sat cross-legged on the ground and closed my eyes.
I could now see everything that was going on in the bank. People were in line and waiting and then They came in. Large men in black coats came in. They blocked all the exits and the civilians began to panic.
