Chapter Four

After dinner i took my contacts out and went into my room and laid down. I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep.
I was running in a field as fast as I could. I was in human form, but my cat ears and tail were out I also wasn't wearing my contacts. The hunters were chasing me. I ran into Travis and he grabbed me. He wrapped his arms around me, calming me. I sobbed into his shoulder. He looked down and he saw my ears and tail. He pushed me away making a disgusted face.
"Get away from me!" He yelled. I cowered back and looked up, tears in my eyes.
"Please don't leave me!" I cried. He pushed me, right into the arms if the hunter.

I woke up gasping. I realized my ears and tail were out, but I was too upset to hide them.
Travis wouldn't so that! Megaera cried in my head. I sigh, but tool out of bed. I look in. The mirror and see I have dark circles and a serious case of bed head. My yellow eyes stare back at me and I curse them. I put in my contacts and wince as my eyes begins to tear.
"Why can't I be normal?" I whisper to myself in the mirror. Megaera stays quiet, and for that I am grateful. I pull my hair into a ponytail and get dressed. I wake Holly up and we walk to school. I drop her off, hugging her goodbye as I do so. I start the short walk to school by myself.
"Bria!" I heard a voice yell. I turn and see Travis in his car. Jenni and Fred aren't there. "Would you like a ride." My mind flashes back to my dream and I shake my head.
"I'm good. Exercise is good." He pulls over and gets out of the car.
"Then I'll walk with you." I sigh, but keep walking. He jogs until he catches up to me. "How was the rest of your day?"
"It was okay." I say shrugging.
"You look tired."
"I had a nightmare." I whisper. I don't know why I tell him. He stops and cups my face in his hand.
"About what?" Looking into his eyes I can't stop myself from telling him.
"About you."
"What happened?"
"You-you..." I gasp and pull away embarrassed. He sighs, but continues walking. When we get into school Addie comes running up to me.
"Hi!" She squeaks. I smile and give her a small wave. Warren walks from behind her and wraps his arms around her. She jumps and slaps his arms. "You scared me!"
"Sorry," he murmurs in her ear. I walk to my locker and open it. I sense someone behind me and I turn quickly.
"Rena." I say when I see who it is.
"I won't tell anyone. I don't want to hurt you." I smile at her.
"For some strange reason, I believe you. And I have trust issues."
"Accept your mate, it will be good for you and for him." Travis walks up and smiles at us.
"Ready to go to class?" We nod and he takes my hand and leads me to class.
The teacher begins to lecture when we sit down. I look down at my desk, lost in thought. I want to accept him, I really do, but he will only get hurt.
I'd like to see anyone try to hurt our mate.Megrara says.
Well I don't, if they succeed, you know what that will do to us.
It will kill us. She admits.
And if we get killed, it will him too.
Or push his wolf over the edge. Cats are different from Wolves, Bria, we can't survive without our mate, but wolves they go crazy. Their wolves take over and start to kill. If a wolf's mate dies, or they get rejected, or they don't find their mate, they are killed. The kill them so they don't kill anyone else. They'll kill him Bria. I close my eyes a tear slips out. If anything happens to Travis I would die, not only that I would never forgive myself.
We need him. I admit.
And he needs us. Travis reaches over and wipes the tear on my cheek. I close my eyes and lean into his touch.
"Don't cry." He whispers. The bell rings and I jump. He stands up a and kneels by my side. "Why are you crying?" I shake my head and stand up.
"It's nothing, lets get to class." He grabs my hand, and I don't have the heart to pull away. He leads me to our next class.
