Chapter 24

I nodded.

"How are you?" he asked, again.

Outside, the rain has stopped.

"Better, I guess." I replied before taking another bite of the cake, "And you? I mean, aside from your debut news, I think I've failed to catch up."

He smiled but it soon faded away, "I'm good." he said and nothing more.

Suddenly, I was afraid we might not be able to go back to how it was between us beforeㅡwhen everything was so comfortable.

But then he added, "I missed you."

It was like my heart was squeezed abruptly. I looked at him, my heart still racing, and then I swallowed nervouslyㅡ"I missed you, too."

A smile slowly curved on his lips, or maybe it was just like a slow motion to me.

The last thing I knew, I was smiling tooㅡwidely, like I haven't been in a long time.

We finished our food and coffee in silence, but not as awkward as the one earlier. We would glance at each other and then laugh shortly, or smile. I fought the urge to cover my face in shyness.

I may have been in love before; a real love I could not deny, but there is nothing quite like this. There's nothing quite like Changsub, nothing quite like having him again in my life.

Changsub:

Chorong and I walked side by side with no particular destination. I was only wearing a baseball cap, a white shirt and jeansㅡbut Chorong looks wonderful. I couldn't help myself from stealing glances on her in the coffee shop but I also couldn't help but laugh at how I caught her so many times glancing at me.

The rain has stopped and the streets were unusually calm. I felt the back of our hands brushed each other's and I clenched mine, not knowing where to put itㅡwhether to hold hers or to keep it in my pocket. Damn, I feel like I could piss myself in nervousness. I just want to hug her because I missed her that much.

I was still debating in my head whether to hold her hand or not when she entwined hers with mine.

When I looked at her, her cheeks were pink. I couldn't help but smile.

I took a deep breath and stopped walking so that we could take a look at the river and the rainbow that has shown up.

"Look up," I said, "There's a rainbow."

Slowly, she looked up, the skies reflecting on her eyes. "That's like you." she said in almost a whisper.

"What?"

She smiled a little shyly, "You're the rainbow after the rain. It's like I could see things so much clearer."

My heartbeat is slamming against my chest.

I took his other hand so that we were facing each other. Doing this took a lot of courage and energy, but it is now or never. Haven't we waited enough?
