A Brief Meeting

I was sitting at a table with my friends when I saw this girl walk by. She didn't have on the best clothes but something about her caught my eye. Maybe it was the guy trying to talk to her and her completely ignoring him. 

"Dude just needs to let her go. She doesn't want him." Shawn said as we all watched them. 

"You know her?" I asked. 

"Used to. That's in the past though." He said. 

"She your ex or something?" Mike asked. "You sound a little hurt." 

"Hell no." He said. 

"You say that like she got a disease." I said and laughed. 

"It's not that. She was a family friend and things happened.. There's nothing wrong with her." He said and shook his head. 

"She do something wrong?" Nicole, Mike's girlfriend asked. 

"Um.. I rather not talk about it." He said as he looked at the girl. 

That kind of made me curious as I watched her leave the lunch room. Shawn isn't the type of guy to talk about someone and not tell how he knows them, especially a girl. He loves to brag but I guess this is different. 

When I was walking to my car, I saw the girl and guy again. 

"Anthony stop. I'm serious. Stop." She told him and pushed him away. 

"Why you acting like this?" He asked as he leaned against the car. 

"Because I want you to leave me the fuck alone. I'll walk home but thanks for offering me a ride." She said before putting on her hood and walking off. 

I guess he's her ex boyfriend or something. I drove home and as I was about to walk into my house I saw her again. She was getting off the bus. She walked into an apartment two buildings from my house. It made me even more curious as I walked inside. 

I don't know how I keep bumping into this girl but I do. I was in the hall and I accidentally bumped into her.

"My bad." I said and helped her pick up her stuff. 

"Don't sweat it." She said as she stood up. 

"Um.." I didn't know what to say, I just looked at her. 

"Thanks." She said and slowly took her stuff before walking to class. 

I don't know what I was thinking. I went to class. After school I was sitting around with Mike and Nicole when I saw Shawn pull up. I was about to call out to him until I saw him with that girl. She looked pissed off. 

"I thought he said he doesn't talk to her no more." Mike said as we watched them. 

"Leave me alone, I don't care!" She yelled at him. 

"Well you should! I was the only one who believed you, I was there!" He yelled back. 

"Your family disowned me Shawn! I did everything y'all wanted and look at me! I'm hopeless and alone." She told him before trying to walk away. 

"What are you talking about?" He asked as he stopped her. 

"Your telling me you don't know your mom forced me to do all those things? I didn't want that job and I sure didn't want sleep in that room. I cleaned the house and ran errands like a slave because I needed a place to stay. I trusted your family and they turned on me." 

"Robyn we did everything we could to help you but you needed way more-" 

"Shawn I have nobody! My family is dead! I'm all alone and don't nobody want me! Y'all gave me a place to stay and food to eat and that was it Shawn."
