Zayn's POV

"ZAYNNNNN!"
I pull my pillow over my head to try and mumble the yells coming from Louis. It didn't work.
"ZAYN-" Louis comes barging in my room, half-dressed, looking frantic as ever.
I throw the pillow that was currently covering my ears at Louis. He dodges it, surprisingly, and throws it back at me before I could react.
"Zayn get up! We're late for work!" Louis yells and runs out of my room to go finish getting ready.
"Shit," I mutter under my breath as I jump up and put on my pants from last night, because I have no time to pick a new pair of jeans out.
I start running around Louis and I's apartment looking for my work shirt. I finally ask Louis who is shoving a granola bar in his mouth.
"Sawry mayt I hayvent syeen it," Louis barely makes out through the half swallowed granola bar still in his mouth. "Thanks for the help!" I yell while running around the living room searching for my shirt.
After it seemed like 5 minutes I ended up finding my shirt on Louis' bed. "Haven't seen it my butt," I mumble while walking out and locking our door, meeting Louis in the car.
It's currently December and here in London, it gets cold. Extremely cold. Luckily, Louis already turned the heat on before I entered the car so I had nothing to worry about. Besides the fact we are late to work and our jack arse of a boss might possibly fire us.
I turn on the radio and Liam Payne's new song fills up the car.
Louis' face scrunches up and quickly turns it off. "Sorry mate, didn't know." I respond because I know that he dislikes him.
"Why don't you like him?" Louis takes a minute before he answers.
"It's not that I dislike HIM as a person, I just find his music too poppy if you know what I mean."
I laugh, "No I don't know what you mean." Louis glares at me before continuing, "I mean like, I like this new music, but his is I don't know, just not very good. But don't get me wrong he has a good voice."
I consider this for a moment, "I agree with you, Lou. But I also disagree. Yes, his music is pop and new, but it's also different. Sure you can listen to the Chainsmokers and all of their songs sound the same. Or you can listen to Liam and here the uniqueness and quality in his voice."
Louis looks back at me shocked as to how much I defended this pop star that I don't even know. "Wow, no offense bro but I thought u disliked him too?"
His gaze is interrogating me so I turn and look out the window at the snow covered trees. I respond quickly, "Yea, I don't like him, but that doesn't mean he is a terrible singer."
Louis shakes it off as we pull into the little restaurant. Yes, Lou and I are best friends and tell each other everything, but not when it comes to Liam Payne.
Sounds cheesy, but it's true. I'm not one of those obsessive fans that have posters coving their walls or know where he is at all times, but I do listen to him all the time. It's just hard to share that with Louis because 1. He strongly dislikes his music and 2. When I first discovered Liam and his music was when I was in the middle of a complete life change. Meaning that was when I found my mother dead in our basement and my dad leaving forever at the age of 16.
In most cases, this would come as a surprise for some kids if one of the parents were an alcoholic or druggie and they suspected something would happen. Not with me and my sisters.
My family was almost perfect. My mom, dad, and three sisters (Doniya, Waliyha, and Saraa) all lived in a small house in Bradford. Everything almost always ran smoothly, we went to school while our parents worked, and when we came home we would have homework or after school activities to attend to.
That's why when I found my mom dead and my dad gone, I was in such shock I had to be driven to the hospital and checked on because my body underwent shock. Louis was by my side through it all, he was always with me before that too, but he was always there when I needed him most.
After that tragedy happened, my older sister Doniya had to take care of us because she was legally able too. It was but eventually I made it through highschool and got a scholarship to a nearby college that Louis thankfully did too.
Louis got a scholarship because of his talent in football. He used to be the captain of our highschool football team, until we graduated and got an apartment near our college. I, however, am/never will be an athlete. I've always enjoyed art, like since I was a little kid I was always doodling or something that involved art. So right now I'm majoring in art and I couldn't be happier about that.
Anyway, so while I was being drove to the hospital the paramedics asked if music would help me calm down. Later on (when I was actually aware of my surroundings) the same paramedics said that I nodded and they turned on the radio. The first song that came on was Liam's first ever single and I've been a fan ever since.
Like I said before, I'm not that obsessive fan, but to say that he saved me would be a complete understatement.
"EARTH TO ZAYN!" Louis yells in my ear as he is reaching for the door handle.
I quickly snap out of my thoughts and run inside the building with Louis by my side. We see Megan, the other waitress there, and ask if our boss was already here.
"Nope. You guys are lucky, Mr. Warren's never late." Megan says while wiping down a table near the bar.
Louis and I run to the back and grab our notebooks and start serving. Mr. Warren ends up not even coming in at all by the time we close.
I finish sweeping when Louis starts mopping and by the time we're done it's already 9:00 p.m. Megan, Louis, and I all leave at the same time and before I know it Louis is shaking me to wake up.
"Louisssss, I'm tired." I whine and give Louis my hard-to-resist pout face. Louis rolls his eyes and gives in by carrying me all the way to our apartment.
"You can be such a pain in the arse sometimes Zayn," Louis says while unlocking our door. I chuckle and flop down on the couch, "Thanks LouLou." I smile up at him and pat the spot next to me.
Louis grins and sits on my lap, "I'm so happy that it's Christmas. I've been so done with school it's hard for me to focus." Louis admits as he starts twirling my hair. I turn my head to look at him in the eyes, "Lou why didn't you say anything before? You know I'll talk to you about anything."
He sighs, "I know Zee, it's just that sometimes I feel like I can push those feelings aside until they all come back bundled together, ya know?"
I push him off my legs and lay his head down in my lap. I start to massage his hair, "Yes I get that, but I want you to always come to me, okay? I'm always here, I'm not leaving you just yet." I chuckle as he slaps me on the arm, "Just yet? What do you mean?!"
I grin, "I'll get sick of you one day. Or I won't and then you'll get sick of me." I look down at him and he just responds with, "Never."
