I awoke to the sound of a soft waterfall. It was calming, but the only problem was, I don't live near a waterfall. I became suspicious and arose from a hard ground. The last thing I remember was sleeping on my bed, not the floor. The wood from this suspicious area gave me splinters on the back of my legs. I tried taking them out, but cool, trickling blood was oozing from my skin. I looked around the area and realized, I am not in my house.
I screamed for help and didn't stop. I was bleeding and lost. I wanted to go back home. But wait, if I'm here, where is my family? Are they here too? I started running around looking for some sort of exit. There was a tiny gap in between two wood planks. I peered through it and saw that I was in a treehouse. I screamed more and more. Was this a nightmare? I kept pinching myself so I would wake up. But I didn't.
The blood was still oozing from my leg. I looked around for supplies. I saw a square, orange box. I ran over to it and opened it. There was food, water, and towels in there. Phew. At least I might not die up here. Hopefully. I grabbed the towel and poured a tiny bit of water on it. Then I rubbed the towel on my leg. After the blood stop coming out, I decided I would look for a way out. I looked at everything in this tiny treehouse. I saw a small hatch. I lifted it up. I was very heavy so I had to use all my strength. Once it was opened, I saw that I was about 30 feet high. I would definitely break something if I dropped down there. There was some sort of trap down there as well. It had spikes and a net around it. Yikes.
I went back over to the box. There was nothing that could help me get out. I was alone, scared, and hurt. What did I ever do to deserve this. I started to sob quietly. I was never going to get out of here. Who brought me here anyway. Was this just some kind of a cruel joke? I started to sob louder and louder. Then something busted through the wall.
"Hurry! We don't have much time!" The person said. She didn't look too strange, but she was a stranger. But what other option do I have? To die here alone? "Grab that box as well, it'll be useful!" She said. I grabbed the box and ran over to her. I saw that there was a ladder where she had busted through. She climbed down first and I followed. When we finally reached the ground, I collapsed. I was carrying a box full of things down a 30 foot ladder. That had to take a lot of strength.
"Well aren't you soft! If you wanna survive out here you have to get tougher!" She kicked me until I got up. If this is what my new life is gonna be like, kill me now! "I'm getting up!" I wheezed. I wasn't used to so much Sun. I live in Canada so I'm used to cold weather. It was winter where I live so that's why I'm used to it. Sweat was trickling down my face. If I am this hot in "winter", then we must be someplace far away. Like in Africa or something like that.
I got up and started carrying the box again. Then the girl took off sprinting. I tried to catch up with her but she was too fast. My vision started getting blurrier and blurrier as I progressed forward. I stopped by a tree and breathed heavily. I probably wasn't ever going to find her again. "What are you stopping for slow poke! Hurry up!" She took off sprinting again. I ran with all my might. Then finally she stopped. We were in front of a small shack. It was as big as a shed in your backyard. But it was decorated so nicely with leaves and flowers.
I set the box down outside the house. Then I remembered I didn't even know this girl. "What is your name?" I asked. Then I got a good look of what she looked like. She had hair as black as ink and eyes as blue as the sky. She was wearing a brown shirt and shorts with a green cloak that covered some of her hair. She had a scar across her right cheek on her face. She also had a sack with knives, and a bow and arrow.
"My name is Adeline. But you can call me Addi. Now let me ask you that question!" She looked at me waiting for an answer. "I'm Bailey. I used to live in Canada but now, apparently, I am stuck here!" Tears formed in my eyes. Was I ever going to see my family again? "Wow! You live all the way in Canada! I don't know where we are now but I know that it's very far from Canada!" She said, surprised.
"Really!?" I started to sob. I wanted to see my family again. Even if it meant I had to be stuck here and only see them once a month, it's better than nothing! "Don't cry! I'm sure you'll see your family again very soon. By the way, how old are you?" She asked. I looked at how tall she was compared to how tiny I was. "I'm 16. And you?" I was excited to see this answer. "I'm 18! We are not that far apart! That's good!" She exclaimed. "Now, do you wanna see my house?"
She walked forward so I followed. Then she opened the door very slowly. I don't know why she was doing this. Was she hiding bodies in there or something? On second thought, let's just say that she wasn't cause if she was, I don't want to be her next victim!
Anyway, she opened her door all the way. And boy oh boy was this something to see.
