-Chapter 5-
THE GLOW
I kept looking at my tattoo, it ran long ways up and down most of my arm, and stopped at my elbow. Flora said it was really rare to have a tattoo this large and she said I was special or something. When Ronan saw how long my tattoo was he ran out of the room, Leaving me and Flora slightly confused. After a few hours Flora left me in The room alone saying I need rest.i didn't get much sleep I really just laid in the bed. It was getting dark outside and Flora came back into the room.
"Hey Evette, how are you feeling?" She asked
"Fine." I said yawning in the process.
"Well you can't spend the night here we have another patient that needs a room..." She trailed off
"That's okay, but where am I going to sleep?"I wondered.
"We have 3 dorms for new arrivals but the two bigger ones are full so you will have to stay in the smaller one next to the little bakery."
"Sounds great." I smiled
"Okay. well if your ready you can change back into your clothes and follow me."
I quickly changed out of the skimpy hospital gown and back into my Emblem day dress. We walked about a mile before we got there, but when we did get there it was worth the walk. The little bakery's smells wafted out onto the street and I smiled wide knowing I would wake up to this. When we walked in Flora showed my my room and told me how things worked, I thanked her and she slipped out. I decided I would meet the other girls later, so I explored my room. When I was just about finished I opened my dresser and saw that it was already full of clothes, red, yellow, green, purple, orange, and most of all Blue. I looked for some pajamas and found a yellow night gown that was by far the prettiest thing I had ever worn, with the little flowers embroidered on the edges and the color, oh the color it was like swimming in butter. After a while of me looking through my clothes I heard a door open and close so I quickly hopped in my bed and turned off my lamp.
...
Later I woke up to a pair of hands shaking me, and several shouts in the background. I rubbed my sleep filled eyes very confused.
"Wha- what happened?" I asked
One of the younger girls who was crying said "you were screaming and trying to get away..." Another scared sob racked her small frame.
I fell back into my bed, mad at myself for thinking I could ever be normal with these stupid things coming after me every night, and I felt really bad for waking them all up.
"I'm really sorry" I looked into my lap
"Um it's just, I get those, I call them night terrors..." I trailed off
"It's okay just please promise it won't happen again" another girl said sounding exhausted.
"I know, they only happen once a month, and I'll try to get them under control." I scratched the back of my neck and my tattoo started glowing again. The other girls gasped some just looked at me in disbelief, and anger.
"What?"
"It's glowing so bright..." The smaller one gasped
"How?" A taller with flaming hair said
"Um... I don't know it just, well, glows."
"That's impossible, when mine glowed it never glowed like that" the red head spat in my face and pointed to my glowing arm. She then lifted my sleeve and gasped seeing how large my tattoo was and got even angrier.
"What is this?!" She yelled before running out of the room slamming getting a lot of girls to follow her.
A girl with dark brown hair, brown eyes, and warm skin. came up so me and reached out her hand
"I'm Maddox," I shook her hand "I was born here, where did you come from?" she asked sitting on the bed, cross-legged.
"I came from the Fabricators." I said
"Really? The fabricators?" Maddox said in disbelief
"Yep my Emblem day dress is on the chair over there" I said pointing to the blue velvet and silk dress.
"Wow no wonder you your tattoo is so huge and glows so bright."
"What do you mean?"
"We don't have any former Fabricators here."
