Mount Justice

I stood in the back of the control room as Aqualad, Superboy, and Miss Martian looked at the holographic computer, talking to Red Tornado.

My name is Adalwolfa. I'm a wolf and werewolf. I'm afraid of turning one day, so I'm constantly trying to keep my emotions in check, but at night, and in battle, I will turn. I try to control it, but I have a hard time.

"Adalwolfa, come on over," Miss Martian said.

I gasped at her voice, shaking my thoughts. "I-I'm fine here."

"You sure? You look isolated," she said.

I turned from her. "I'm isolated for a reason."

Her hand touched my shoulder and I jumped. "Wolfa, it's okay. I understand. But, we're here to help each other."

I lightly nodded. "I just have an issue with myself. You won't like me after I say what I am."

"Then, don't," she said. "Come on over to us. We won't bite."

I nodded, following her.

"Recognized, Robin, B-0-1, Kid Flash, B-0-3."

I jumped and saw fur on my hand. I hid it with my other hand.

"Did you ask Red Tornado?" Robin ran up to us.

"What'd he say?" Kid Flash asked.

"He is arriving now," Aqualad said.

"Then, what are we waiting for?" Kid Flash asked. "And who's the shy, new girl?"

I backed away from him. "Adalwolfa. I'm Adalwolfa." My red hair covered part of my face.

"Beautiful name," Robin said. "But, you don't have to be afraid of us."

I nodded.

"Let's go!" Kid Flash sped off.

I jumped again, fur showing on my arm. I hid it with my hand.

"Wolfa, are you okay?" Robin asked as he fell in step in with me.

I looked away from him. "I'm fine."

"You don't look fine," he said.

"I'm not ready to share," I finally said, walking forward.

A door opened, we walked to the grass covered ground.

Red Tornado descended to the ground in front of us.

"Red Tornado!" Kid Flash waved.

"Greetings. Is there a reason you intercept me outside the Cave?"

"We had hoped you had a mission for us," Aqualad said.

"Mission assignments are the Batman's responsibility," Red Tornado said.

"But, it's been over a week and nothing's--"

"You will be tested soon enough. For the time being, simply enjoy each other's company."

"This team is not a social club," Aqualad said.

"No. But I hear social interaction is an important team-building exercise. Perhaps, you can keep busy by familiarizing yourself with the Cave," Red Tornado said, walking away.
