"So, Sebastian," my dad asked from the other side of the long, rectangular table, "the President of Mexico is coming in a week and I want you to be polite." He practically had to yell from the other side. I had to reluctantly resist the urge to stand on the chair and sing "Hello" by Adele.

"Sebastian? Sebastian? Sebastian!" That got me out of my daydream which I had so gracefully slipped into.

"Huh, right. Polite and Professional."

"Yes," he replied. I glanced at where my mom was sitting, right next to me on the opposite of the dining table.

"I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous! Dad, why do you have to be on the other side of the table? I practically have to scream to talk to you," I complained.

"Sebastian," my mother somehow said sternly and gently at the same time. How do you talk sternly and gently at the same time? I have no idea, "We went over this, we have to practice for when the President comes."

"Yes," my dad agreed with my mother, "not only is the president coming, but his wife and daughter, too." I swear I heard an underlying tone of playfulness.

"Ooooooooohhhhhh," my mom teased me in a high-pitched voice.

I groaned and put my face into my hands, "Oh my Lordie Dordie. Mom, Dad we talked about this. Ugh. I can't believe your doing this to me yet you told me I can't date until I graduate college."

"You know we love ya," my mom replied in the same teasing voice.

"Oh God," I said in return, "And it's only 10:30."

Both of my parents chuckled in return.

"Okay, but remind me again, why is he coming over?" I asked.

"He's coming over to talk about a proposal. I haven't been informed yet, but I guess it's important."

"And we can't act like ourselves around him?" I replied.

"No."

"Why?"

"Because we're representing America and this family is the most dysfunctional family I've been in," my mom said quickly.

"Ooooooohhhh," I finally understood, "wait the most dysfunctional family you've had? W-wha?"

"Let's just say your aunts we're crazy," she responded.

"Yeah, quite crazy," my dad muttered.

"What?! I thought you liked them!" My mom said in bewilderment.

"I don't," I said honestly. They were weird.

"Sebastian!"

"What?"

"Stop making this about you! We're talking about my family!"

"That's true, Sebastian," my dad said back.

"What? B-but they're my family, too!" My voice went up in pitch in defensiveness.

"Yeah, but we care about myself more," my mom argued.

"Yeah," my dad agreed.

"You guys are bullies," I muttered as I looked down at my cereal. Dang it, I hate soggy cereal.
