"We got this ladies! Let's bring the ball back!" I called onto the court.
We blocked the ball bringing us one point closer to a win.
"Sydney. Switch with Chelsea." My coach commanded.
I stood in front of the ten foot line to switch with Chelsea.
I quickly high fived her and moved into service position. The referee blew his whistle, allowing me to serve.
My jump-serve flew over the net, and the opposing libero failed to hit the ball, bringing us to 25 points. I breathed a sigh of relief and walked toward my coach.
"Sydney. This is a representative of UPenn. They would like to offer you a scholarship for volleyball." She said handing me a letter from the man in front of me.
I smiled, nodded, and walked away, taking the letter from her hands.
I grabbed my volleyball bag and walked out of the gym.
"You were amazing today Syd." My sister patted my shoulder.
"Thanks. I really want to get home. I haven't gone shopping for Christmas gifts yet, and I don't want to go in sweaty volleyball gear." I laughed.
"Can I go with you? I need to get gifts too." She smiled.
"Fine. But you can't look at my gifts." I said getting into my car.
She sat in the passenger seat. "Got another scholarship?" She said.
I nodded and handed her the letter.
"UPenn?! That's awesome!" She exclaimed
"Like Mom and Dad will care. To them it's just an Irrelevant A on homework. It's not really what I want anyway." I sighed, pulling onto my street.
"Sydney. I know what you want. You should go for it. You kill on guitar and you have the best voice I've ever heard. Ask Aaliyah or Shawn and even they'll agree." Addison encouraged
I smirked. I pulled into my driveway and put the car in park.
I grabbed my stuff and Addison's Backpack and she opened the front door for me. I placed my envelope on the dining table and quickly ran up to my room.
I changed into a pair of leggings and a maroon sweater with a cream colored scarf. I slid on a pair of light brown combat boots. I grabbed my purse and left my room.
As soon as I stepped out boys began running down the hallway, crashing into walls, and falling down the stairs.
"BOYS CALM DOWN!" My father yelled from downstairs.
I sighed and quickly walked downstairs. I found my mother at the stove cooking a meal, and my dad on his laptop at the dining table.
"Hi guys." I said. I was Ignored.
"I got another scholarship." I said.
"That's great dear. Figure out where you want to go soon." My mom said not paying attention.
"Mom!" My younger brother Anthony bolted down the stairs. "I scored seven points in basketball at gym today!"
"That's Amazing sweetie! You're the best athlete in this family." She said, giving him her full attention.
I sighed, and turned to Addison.
"Who are you trying to impress. Shawn's in LA now." She smirked, referring to my outfit.
