The Seeker-Chapter Two

DEMETRIA

New-girl-looks attacked me all at once. Whispers followed me through out the hallways.

"Who's she?"

"Never seen her before!"

"I heard she's crazy!" This one made me want to turn around and punch the speaker right in the nose.

First period was history. I answered all the questions about Greece correctly and the teacher looks extremely impressed. But I struggled to memorize facts about Roman cities and compose an essay on the way of life in Medieval times. The teacher, whose name is Mr. Grant, seemed confused about why I would know so much about Greece, but not anything about the events that took place after.

I couldn't help but notice Austin and Carter shooting each other nervous looks.

I pretty much excel at the other classes through out the day. Mathematics? No problem! So much is going on in the life of geometry at home! Science? Quite easy to understand, although some of the facts I didn't fully believe.

I caught up with Austin in the hallway between third period and fourth period.

"Where to next?" I asked him.

"Gym class," he responded, sounding quite excited.

"What's gym class?" I wondered aloud, "And why are you so excited?"

"It's sports!" Austin blurted out, like I should know what he was talking about.

I shot him another confused look.

"Athletics," he re-worded his previous response, sounding very fed-up with me.

"Oh, I comprehend now, thank you," I said, "I'm sorry if I am annoying you."

"No, no, it's okay," he assured me, "It's all good."

"Why are you so excited for athletics?" I asked him once more.

"Because today we're doing archery!"

Austin suddenly gasped at his own words, looking quite furious with himself.
