jughead peers over to betty after he puts on the jacket. her face is full of hurt, he glances away and once he looks back, she's gone back inside. he turns and faces the serpents. his brain is fighting. go inside and find betty or go with the serpents?
"hey guys, i really appreciate this and everything you've done, but, i need to fix something i care a lot about. i'll be right back." he turns around and heads inside; he hears soft crying from the bedroom. he walks into betty cooper, the perfect girl next store. the girl who hated the word perfect. the girl he loves. but she was pretending to be asleep, jughead sat on the bed and tapped betty's shoulder. she sniffled but didn't turn around.
"betts, i love you, you're the light in my dark. if i lose you i don't know what i would do. please betty." she still doesn't turn around. she sniffles a few more times with awkward silence between them. he almost forgot, his hat is on the kitchen counter. he walks out of the room and walks to the kitchen. his hat isn't here. betty must have it. he thought to himself. he heads back in and walks over to her side. there she is cradling the only thing that ever made him feel safe. he kisses her forehead and climbs into bed. snuggled up next to her.
he had always dreamt about the day he and betty lay sleeping side by side like married couples do. but today was different, ones heart was broken and the other caused it.
