Eden's POV
I can't believe I over slept. What a great way to start the semester. I check my phone hoping that the time will somehow magically bounce back an hour, so I can stop worrying. Yet to no surprise it still reads 8:57.

"I can take the next person," I hear a voice say over all the chattering business people, but I don't look up. I feel someone pat my shoulder and I look behind me.

"Ma'am he can get you now," a lady says

"Oh gosh sorry," I say quickly rushing over to the counter.

"What can I get for you," a soft voice asks

"Um yeah, can I just get coffee," I say not looking up from my phone as if the time is still gonna change.

"Just coffee, like black nothing else?" He asks

"Yes black." I say finally glancing up quickly to only look back down.

"Okay, that will be two dollars and forty-five cents." He says handing me my black coffee

"Thanks, keep the change, I gotta go I'm so late." I mutter quietly handing him three dollars before sprinting towards the door.

I run down the street faster than I have ever done before. I can see the building just getting there fast enough is the problem.

When I make it to the doors. I take a second to catch my breath before walking in. I take a drink of my coffee before looking at the time. It's says 9:10 and I curse under my breath. I throw most of my coffee out in the trashcan by the door.

I walk in and look for my lecture hall. This is gonna be embarrassing I think to myself as I open the door. I walk in and the teacher stops talking and turns to me. A smile spreads across her face.

"It's nice of you to join us..." she trails off waiting for me to say my name.

"Eden, um Eden Wilson." I say my voice shaking slightly

"Well Eden, its better late then never right? Take a seat anywhere and the person next to you can fill you in after class."

I take a seat in the third row on the end. Next to a girl with shoulder length dark brown hair.
The teacher resumes where she was. She's much different that I thought she would be, Personality wise and appearance. I guess watching How to get away with murder every night before the first day will make you think that your teacher is dark, creepy, and has criminal things to hide.

I only missed ten minutes of class. She was just introducing herself and explaining how the semester should go. Then we got started on our first assignment. She wastes no time I guess.

"Hi, I'm Halee by the way," the girl sitting next to me says when the class gets over. She's obviously from here the accent gives it away.

"Hey I'm Eden," I answer gathering my stuff. I look up at her, "I'll see you tomorrow I guess,"

"Sure thing, I'll save you a seat next to me,"

"Thanks, hopefully I'll be here on time," I laugh before heading out.

I go back down the street I was running just hours before. I realize that I never even got to drink my coffee this morning.

Next thing I know I'm back in the same coffee shop. This time stopping to look around. It's nice inside, especially since there's no line.

I walk up to the counter and a worker comes out from the back. His bright yellow raincoat catches my eye instantly.

"Don't worry I'll get her before I leave," He calls to the back before walking over to the cash register. "Let me guess you want a cup of coffee, black?"

"Yes, how did you know?" I ask in shock, while still admiring the jacket.

"You must have been really late for something this morning. I took your order the first time you came in." He laughs,

"Oh my gosh, I was so out of it this morning. I was late for class." I say handing him the same amount of money I did this morning.

"Where are you taking your class at, if you don't mind me asking."

"Not at all, it's at the building right up the street actually."

"The law school?" He questions quickly turning away to pour my coffee

"Correct." I say as he hands me my cup. He slightly smiles at me, his eyes squinting shut as he does so. "Thank you again..." I gesture towards the cup I'm holding. He nods in response.

I start to make my way towards the door before turning around to see him still standing there

"Nice raincoat by the way. It looks nice on you." I call back to him.

"Well Thank you." He says a smile spreading on his face.

As I walk out the door, I can't help but smile too. I hope I see him and his yellow raincoat again.
