The faint sound of a pounding heartbeat could be heard throughout the small apartment, as Renegade walked. With each step, their nerves only grew and their heartbeat only quickened.
Afterglow was far to upset to see or speak with them; for Renegade knew this well. They placed the small amount of roses in a small vase on the table in the Kitchen before scribbling the following note:
Afterglow, my darling...I have made many mistakes. I understand that you cannot forgive them all.
I met someone tonight, and before you get angry, they've put me in my place. Their name was Lowlife and they helped me to realize that I've been blind and wrong. Afterglow, you never want to see me again and I understand this, so I am leaving. Though, even as shitty as I am, I could not leave without giving you a thank you gift. You've put up with me for so long, darling...
I've put some roses on the table, flowers not half as beautiful as you...
Though, I hope you accept them anyway.
Goodbye, Afterglow.
So long, so nice to know you.
Renegade silently grabbed his things, as not to wake Afterglow who was asleep in their room, and sat outside their apartment to watch the sunrise.
