Marauders' Era Headcanons and Short Stories

Friendships

I personally think Lily was friends with all the Marauders throughout all her years of Hogwarts. I mean, how could she not with Remus studying with her all the time, her kindness she shows to Peter when others don't, Sirius impressed with coming up with ways to improve their pranks, and James loved to have debate with her about that week's topics in Charms and Transfiguration.

The stuff that happened in the Snape's Worst Memory chapter was also the worst day of Lily's life because she saw the worst side of James and used it against a friend who welcomed her to the world she lived in. And Sirius, Remus, and Peter never tried to stop him. It made her feel like they chose to side against her instead of with her.

(I'll write another headcannon about the way, I think, they reacted to that day.)

Anyway, I think Lily and Sirius's friendship started out when she overheard them discussing how to pull off a prank and Lily made the suggestion that tied everything together. After that, Sirius would be the one to ask her for her advice on how to pull off this particular prank when they couldn't do so themselves. Not to mention, Marlene knew James and Sirius since before Hogwarts because of pureblood stuff they had to do. I also agree with the headcanon that they would do each other's hair. I also think the first step into their friendship was because they were estranged from their families, in one way or another. But I don't think that's what solidified their friendship. I think it was Lily being the only one who can actually take Sirius's bull and him being a drama queen. And I think they went to each other when they had really dark thoughts and wanted to voice them, but were too embarrassed to go to any of their other friends. Sirius and Lily were bromance goals.

Lily and Remus would just talk. About anything (except dark thoughts she had), mainly problems bothering them, and then offer advice to each other. Lily and Remus were sarcastic comments and snarky comebacks. They were tea and sweaters and books when everyone else were drinking butterbeer at late night gatherings with their year. They were cuddling together when it's winter to stay warm. Lily and Remus were book club goals.

I don't know what to say about Lily and Peter, honestly. I admit, I haven't thought about Lily and Peter's friendship as much as I should (or as much as Lily's and Sirius's bromance), but I do believe that Lily had an individual relationship with each of the Marauders, so I'll do my best. I think Lily was that friend that no matter if she was in a slump, she would help set Peter up with a date and it would actually make her feel better. I think they would watch Muggle movies together and Peter would bring the best pastries to snack on because he was close with the house-elves. Lily would listen to the problems that he thought was "too girly" to talk to the others about. I think instead of Remus staying up until they fell asleep studying, it would be Lily helping him with a subject he was struggling in. Lily would be the only one who knew how to make him understand a problem with Muggle movie analogies.

Lily and James were the friends that were always touching. His arm around her wasit or shoulders in the halls, her falling asleep on him during Saturday afternoons. His hand would be running through her hair. James would not only be looking for his fellow Marauders after a victory in Quidditch, but Lily too because she would be cheering almost as loud as Sirius. James would get jealous when Lily made movie nights with the other Marauders and purposely exclude him, though he was secretly happy that she brought a light to these boys. During full moons, Lily would be there waiting to help heal any wounds after she found out they were animagi.

Lily was something different to each of the boys, but they all agreed that she was practically a Marauder herself. She felt the betrayal as much as the others when she realised it was Peter who was the spy. She wept for the death of her husband, her baby boy, and a friendship that would take longer to build back up than it took to tear apart.
