It has been a week since Adam was suspended from school for week and I kind of missed him. I knew he would be at school today so I waited for him at the school entrance.
I saw him approaching so I yelled out “Your back Adam I’m so happy it’s been lonely without you here.”
He came up to me and replied “Yeah, yeah sweet cheeks.” I stood in shock as he walked pass me, I chased after him and spun him around and yelled “I’m not your sweet cheeks, Adam!” He walked up to me closer and said “What are you going to do about it…” I gasped and he turned around and walked away from me.
I ran inside and quickly grabbed Eli and I pulled him into the school gymnasium. I tried to start talking but all you could hear was me gasping for air and Eli wouldn’t have understood anything I said. Eli held out his water bottle and grabbed it and drank almost half of it after I finished I wiped my mouth and took a deep breathe in. Eli asked me “What’s up?”
I replied “Adam…..he has changed something snapped he is now all badass and rude to everyone. Something happened to him when he was on suspension.”
Eli started pacing back and forth like he was Sherlock Holmes investigating a puzzling mystery. Eli suddenly blurted out in our minute of silence “His parents must of treated him badly….his parents are rough. Adam showed me the scare along his leg his mother gave him and the dent in his head for when his dad hit across the head.”
I stood in shock thinking what kind of parents would do such a thing! I grab Eli’s hand and we walk up to Adam out on the soccer field outside. I go to Adam “Adam what is wrong…please Eli and I can help you if your parents or anyone hurt you for what you did with the drugs. We’ll help you…”
He took a step toward me and said “nothing sweet cheeks… I’m fine the way I am” just as he was about to leave he turned around and kissed me. He smiled and walked off with a grin and continued to play soccer. I ran to the nearest bubbler and I got a tissue out of my bag and started to wash my mouth and gargled with water. Eli came with me and when I finished he asked me “Is he a better kisser than me?”
I give a stare to Eli and said “No way! Your way better because you love me back, Adam is hurt I can see it…”
Eli held my hand and we walked back inside to our lockers.
English had come and I sat in worry and I never said a word to Eli. Eli kept on looking at me and he asked “Becky are you ok? You haven’t said a word this whole period…are you still worried about Adam?”
I look at Eli and say “Of course I am, he promised me he would never fancy me ever, he swore to me. Something is up and we are going to find out about it!”
Eli looks at me confused and I grab his hand and we rush out of class, anyway there was only 10 minutes till end of the period until the end of school time. I search on my phone Adam’s address because I remember I had it in my phone notes somewhere. Eli holds my hand and we start to follow my phone Google maps. We take our last right turn and we stop and see Adam’s house. Eli crept up to the window and peered in and gave the thumbs up that no one was home. Eli took out a pocket knife and destroys the lock for the window, he opened it and he lifts me up and gently places me inside and so he follows me.
We start to walk slowly and quietly around the house and we both notice how many red stains there were on the floor and some of the carpets. Eli knelt down and took a sniff he looked up at me and said “It’s blood for sure…” Eli then holds me close by his side. I walk into the kitchen and Eli stands nearby me in the lounge room. I see the amount of knifes there are in three draws; some of them weren’t even kitchen knives. We took the brave steps up the stairs and went into Adam’s room. I see pill containers all scattered on the floor and two or three cigarette packets. I pick one up and smell the package and then say “It’s disgusting what he is doing…Adam must of used it this morning.” Eli notices papers on his bed he picks them up and arranges like a puzzle. The first note was a photo of him, his mum and his dad, but there was a knife going through his dad head and devil horns on his mum. It originally looked like a happy, joyful photo. And the other note was a message saying:
‘Dear Myself or to the non-important me… My life is torture my stupid parents treat me like I’m their mistaken son. I have been brutally bashed by my father every day and sexually harassed and all I am told is “keep quiet squirt, every time I do this to you it’s good for you, don’t tell the world it’s our little secret.” It’s not our little secret, it’s a big secret that should be told to the world but if I do my older brother who is treated like a king will be hurt as well. I want to be strong but I can’t take it anymore. My mother she has her on and off days she is kind to me one day then all hell breaks loose the next day. She can’t control herself she breaks out into serious panic attack and thinks she is all right and takes out all her anger on me. I sometimes question why was I born to this family? Why am I chosen for this family? And why should I keep up with this torture I should just go…’
I start to cry once I finish reading this and Eli puts his arms around all I could think of was darkness and my body falling to pieces. I grab the note, photo, pill containers and cigarette packets and e run downstairs to the window. As I was about to jump outside I took snapshots of Adam’s house inside on my phone.
As Eli walked me home we talked all about how Adam must feel. I then thought of a plan. I say to Eli “What if we show this to the police, with all this evidence and the scars on Adam we can put his parents behind bars for what they have done. Also if they are sent away Adam’s brother that he adores can look after him. His brother is 25 a grown adult. All we need is a good lawyer and Adam can be set free from his prison and him and his brother could find another home to live at.”
Eli looked at me and said “Sounds like a plan to follow… detective Becky.”
I smile at Eli and say “With our minds we will defeat the those horrible monster parents and save Adam.” We then continue to walk down the road.
