Everything was quiet after Uma vanished into the sea. At least as quiet as it can be for the king of Auradon. He still had to do his kingly duties and on top of that to make sure the children from the isle settled in Auradon. It was stressful, to say at least. Most of the children Evie requested to bring to Auradon where no problem to integrate into the society. Dizzy, for example, went happily to school every day and helped Evie even with her fashion shop. Although the other children weren't as ecstasic as Dizzy was to be in Auradon, they settled well into the new surroundings and seemed happy to not live on the isle anymore. Everything was peaceful until certain incidents started to happen.

The first one to cause such an incident was none other than Mal, Ben's girlfriend. She just wanted to stop someone from bullying a younger child, but he refused to listen. At one point Mal got angry and suddenly the boy who bullied the other seconds ago was turned into a rat. Mal started to panic of course, but it all got sorted out when fairy godmother arrived. With one swing of her wand the boy was back to normal and promised to never bully someone again (Probably because he was scared to be turned into a rat again). And after that the incidents happened more frequently. Mostly children from the isle accidently used the powers they inherited from their parents. The inhabitants of Auradon got... frustrated, to say it nicely. Some even demanded to send those children back to the isle, but Ben always refused to. Ben didn't know what to do about this, though. He wasn't an expert in magic and didn't know why the VK's couldn't control it. That was until one day fairy godmother came into his office with a request: to let her have a magic class at school. She explained that the magically gifted children in Auradon had their parents to teach them how to control, suppress and use their abilities, but the children of the isle never had the chance to. They inherited the talent of their parents, of course, but they could never use it because of the barrier blocking all magic inside of it. It was all new to them. And Ben in his obliviousness didn't even think about it even though his own girlfriend turned into a dragon by accident, because she was angry at Uma. So Ben let fairy godmother introduce the new class in the school and hoped it would work. And a week after the introduction of the new class it never came to such an incident again. Ben was ecstasic because of the news. That was one problem less to worry about for the king. The complaints from the inhabitants of Auradon didn't stop, though.

Even though this was solved, they found something else to complain about. And this time it was something that worried Ben for quiete some time, too. The fear that Uma might return to have their revenge on Auradon. Some even went as far as to say that Uma might be able to open the magic barrier surrounding the isle and to bring all the villains to Auradon. Ben didn't really thought it would happen, but there was still a possibility. The weapons of the villains were locked away in the Cave of Wonders on the Isle of the Doomed for a reason. And they all knew that Uma stole her mother's necklace from the cave and no one knew what power it might contain. To say Ben wasn't worried about that, would be a lie, but it was only one possibility of many how Uma could plan her revenge.

And the possiblity that came true was that Uma stole her mother's spell book from the museum. No one knew what spells and potions the book contained, but they had to fear the worst. Ursula was once strong enough to transform a mermaid into a human, something that even fairy godmother could only accomplish with the help of her magic wand. So the fear grew about what else the book contained. For all they knew, it might even contain a spell powerful enough to tear a hole into the magic barrier.

So when they didn't find a child they wanted to bring to Auradon for the first time, Ben became worried. He was worried that Uma freed the child, Dizzy said his name was Matthew, from the isle. He was worried that Uma tore a hole in the barrier. He was worried that they might have to expect an attack on Auradon. But he waited for weeks, and nothing happened. Not a single thing was out of the usual. At least until they found the lost child lying unconcious on the beach. When they asked what happened, he said he had no idea. Apparently the boy saw a bright light coming from the Isle of the Doomed one night and followed it. He said that he had slipped when he came to a cliff and then nothing. He didn't remember what happened after this nor how he got to the shore. They believed him and signed him into the school, since he seemed not threatening. Dizzy and most of the other VK's were ecstasic that he was finally in Auradon. He was apperantly friend with most of the children who visited him in the cave he lived in. They said he was abandoned by his parents when he was little and left in the forest of the Isle of the Doomed to die. If the rumors were true, they said, that his parents left him due to his good behavior as a child. Even with his rough past he was one of the nicest people on the isle, told him the children. Ben got told that Matthew only survived because the animals of the forest helped and protected him. It was said that he had a special connection to animals, the children compared it to the connection between animals and Snow White. It all appeared to be true. Matthew never troubled anyone, was a perfect gentleman and was always accompanied by a little blue bird sitting on his shoulder. But Ben felt that something was off about Matthew. He didn't really now what, but there was something. But he let it slide in favour of his kingly duties he had to concentrate on. And Matthew continued to seem completely normal. The only thing slightly unnormal about him were his strong magic abilities which began to show a few days after he was signed into school. But he was able to control them soon enough and never seemed to use them. It seemed that he never even thought about using them for his own selfish needs, what was quite unusual for someone from the isle. Ben blamed the lack of parenting from the villains for the unusual behavior and never thought about it twice. Maybe his suspicions were incorrect after all...

Soooo... I had this idea for a while and just had to write it down (Even though I have too much I'd still have to work on). I hope you like the first chapter, which was more like an introductuion to this story. Please excuse any mistakes and feel free to write any in the comments. English is my second language and so pointing out my mistakes is appreciated (Especcially since I never wrote a story in English). I hope you liked it, bye!
