We focus too much on our appearance and not enough on our inner self. There isn't anything wrong with looking after your external self but that shouldn't replace our need to look after our soul and mind. There should be balance between these two things. We should spend more time on building a stronger relationship with HaShem and other people. More time on doing good. More time on developing our intellect. More time on understanding oneself and being secure in ones beliefs and values. Instead we invest our time in changing or adjusting the way we look like to fit this perfect look. But there isn't a thing as a perfect look. All of us are unique in our appearance and character. We shouldn't strive to be anyone else. We should strive to better ourselves. Once we are comfortable in who we are, then will we truly be comfortable with our outer self.
