"Maia, Kacey's acting strange again." He said. "That's it! Kacey is going to the doctor. Now." Maia said.
I sat it a chair, tapping my shoes. Momma said I was going away. "She's six years old! She cannot go to an asylum!" Momma shouted. "I am sorry, but she's delusional. Even for a six year old, Ms. Hopkins. I must escort you and your partner out. You may say goodbye to Kacey." A person spoke really loudly. Momma picked up and hugged me, crying. "Bye-bye, Kacey..." What did Momma mean? She sat me down and left with Poppa. I was picked up by some person and they took me away. I could hear Momma and Poppa sobbing as they got more distance. Watching them shrink kept me entertained for the hour I was being carried away. I missed Momma.
"Hi, Kacey. You're up early." The nurse, I learned, said. I nodded and rubbed my eyes. "I was seeping." I quietly said, "but someone yelled and woke me up." The nurse brought me a tray of warm milk and cookies. "You ignore other people, okay?" I nodded, and shoved one of the oreos in my mouth and sipped the warm, tasty milk. My eyes started getting fuzzy and I lay back down, sleeping again.
I was being picked up out of my cell when the nurse gave me a brand new blue hospital dress. "Here. It comes with some real snazzy shoes, too." I slipped the dress and shoes on, and twirled about. "Tank you." The nurse winked at me, and walked away with my tray of cookies and milk. I liked it here. But where had Momma gone? Oh! I got it. Momma was the nurse.
