*Avery*

I'm in a daze. I'm star struck. I don't even realize Johnny's the one who drives me home. I hope Nathaniel knows call what if he didn't see the paper? What if he won't? I'll make an excuse to see him. I am still wearing his hoodie! I'm surprised Johnny hasn't noticed.

It's well passed 1 am and I haven't told my parents about the party. Oh well. I walk in to the empty hall and into the living room. It's dark and I reach for a light switch but trip over something. "Ow!" I whispered in the dark. I feel the wall and find the switch. I flip it on and turn around to see what I had tripped over. It was my bulldog, Snuffles. "You fucker." I whisper at him and he tilts his head. I head for the stairs but then my dad walks out of the kitchen and I stop dead in my tracks. "Where have you been?" He wasn't yelling, more so softly talking. "Out with Lavender." I say nonchalantly looking him dead in the eye.

"I see. Well keep it down. Your mother isn't feeling well"

"Ok."

"Night."

I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling. I can't get him out of my head. Nathaniel. His name sends chills down my back, scary yet satisfying. I roll over and look at my alarm clock. 3:33 am it reads and I sigh. What if he doesn't call me? Maybe he thought I was like every other girl. Not like it matters anyway he's too good for me I can already tell. I hope he calls rather than texts because I want to hear his deep warm voice. Even though I barely know him, I like him.

But, I still hate him.

I wake up to yelling. After last night I drove as fast as I could to get home because it was late. Though, after the commotion of my parents voices mixing together blowing eardrums, Avery is still on my mind. I should call her. But what if it's too early. I look at my wall clock and it reads 12:13 pm. Now my parents' voices drew closer to my room and I sighed. I can't call her with all this raucous. I hear a knock on the door and my mom and dad walk in looking worried.

"Morning Nathaniel," my mother eyes me as if looking for signs of drug use or if I'm hungover.

"Hi?" I stare at them and they stare back.

"You came back pretty late last night, son." My father proclaims.

"I know. I'm sorry. I having car trouble." I lie.

"Car trouble?" my mother looks worriedly at my father.

"Sure. Are you doing anything you shouldn't be?" he interrogates.

"What? No." I say blatantly.

"Alrighty then, what did I tell you, Jamie. He's fine." he smirks at my mother and leaves. She flashes me a look of disbelief and leaves, shutting the door behind her. I wait a second and as their voices disperse and pull out my phone. I scrounge for the paper with the number and dial it, fingers shaking. The phone rings twice and I hear her unmistakeable voice. "Hello?" Wow, beautiful.

"Hi, uh is this Avery?" I stutter.

"Who'd like to know?" I hold back a laugh.

"It's..uh Nathaniel. From last night?"

"Oh! Hi! Hey what's up?" I hear a jolt of happiness sprang for her voice.

"I was wondering if you'd um...like to go grab a coffee with me? you don't-"Of course sure! Meet at Cafe Caffeine?" She cuts me off.

"Yea sure. Meet in 15?" I stifle a chuckle.

"Sure. Sure. See you Nathaniel." She drags out my name with a sort of longing.

"See you Avery" my voice cracks when I say her name. Crap, hope she didn't notice.

The line goes dead And I'm standing, awestruck. I snap out of it and grab a pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt and throw them on. I go to the bathroom and look at my face. My hair is a mess so throw a beanie on. It's cold out anyway. I look around for my black hoodie then I realize she has it. I run downstairs, grab my keys and wallet and head out the door. A sort of electric feeling runs from my fingertips to my toes.
