Glowing through the fields, bright and bold
It stands there, the green gold.
Precious than the diamonds and other stones
It gave you happiness as it shone.
It casted a spell around it so well
Too beautiful and surreal for you to dwell.
Glowing through the fields, bright and bold
It stands there, the green gold.
It was your only wealth for you to cherish
To serve you all, it was ready to perish.
You didn’t hesitate to destroy it owing to your greed
But why did you forget that it served your need?
Glowing through the fields, bright and bold
It still stands there, the green gold.
Weathered and battered, it lay in the field.
You extracted it and crushed it for your need.
Wait. Stop and think what you’ve done.
With it gone, and the spell broken, life will be none.
Glowing through the fields, bright and bold
Once it stood there, the green gold.
